Yeah but if Notre Dame is our opponent the ticket prices will be outrageous.

Using LSU vs. Alabama in New Orleans is not a good litmus test IMO.  That would be like a NC of Michigan vs. Ohio St in Chicago.  This won't be anything like that.

For ticket prices, no doubt Oregon would be best.

There is some talk that scalping is the way to go.  Any counterfeiting  :chainsaw: concerns?

(My research has shown that posts with icons are 87% less likely to be thread killers).  I really am looking
for answers to the scalping question.

You know another thing that will help drive down prices?

Yep this is huge. Pile the fam/buds in the wagon and two solid days' drive or a cheap airfare nonstop from KC... Or there is no nonstop flight from PDX to MIA so you end up travelling 12+ hours and spending $600 roundy on airfare, or drive to SEA and fly nonstop for SIX HOURS for like $800+, which means you should have just blown that money on going to Japan.

Will crush the college student demo and the general demand from Oregon fans. They're also nowhere near as :kstategrad: so I wouldn't count on a big showing from them. They learnt their lesson the last time they faced a defense and aren't apt to spend their hard-earned tips on some boondoggle to Miami.

Ooh, nice outfit. What is that, Dacron?

lol at any one who isn't a decent donor thinking they will get tickets if there are only 17,000 available.   just about every donor with season tickets will buy the max amount of tickets they are allowed.
If you don't have/know any donor friends/ticket holders, you did it wrong in college.

Aren't you 50k+ in debt with nothing to show for it except for a worthless MBA?  Maybe you should sit this one out?

And michigancat. :surprised:    I am borderline unbearable but I'm not anywhere near as bad as kim carnes, who for some reason feels the need to crap all over joy in a fracking national championship thread. I mean my god.

Have any posters here been to a championship before and/or have any actual experience with buying scalped tickets to ginor events like this? Also is there expected to be another dragonfly infestation before the game at Sun Life Stadium?

I was at the USC vs Texas Rose Bowl, but I don't think that's comparable to a potential KSU vs Oregon title game because it featured one local team and two bluebloods.  I attended with a relative who got free tickets from work, but I saw quite a bit of scalping around the stadium.  About two hours before kickoff I vividly remember some guy at the tailgate next to us buying a pair of tickets from a scalper and handing over a handful of hundred dollar bills.  No clue where they were located or the exact amount he paid, but it had to have been at least a thousand bucks.

That game probably isn't the best comparison because the hype/build up for it was through the rough ridin' roof and both those teams have huge fanbases.  Should be a bit cheaper than a thousand bucks to scalp a pair of tickets to a game in Miami between teams from Kansas and Oregon, but Sun Life Stadium holds about 15K less than the Rose Bowl so there's a smaller supply.

Yes counterfeiting is something to be aware of for big games.  I've never purchased tickets to a national championship game, but I can tell you that many tickets for big games now use holograms.  Just be aware as to what the ticket looks like before you buy one.  Also a good idea to be aware of who you're buying tickets from.  Don't buy crap from craigslist until you see the physical ticket.

not sure how orgeon v. auburn in phoenix compares to oregon v. ksu in miami, but this http://goodmenproject.com/featured-content/scalping-the-scalpers/

apparently scalping might not be the best option...especially if you can get them for $350 :peek:

I'm hearing word that the ticket office is projecting a 2 week delay from when the bowl is announced and pre-orders are confirmed/denied due to bowl negotiations and overload of pre-orders.

I get 1 week, but 2 weeks if rough ridin' ridiculous.  Thats 40% of the time between the announcment and the NC game.

Wow! KC, you've hit a new low. I might be in debt (college debt, good debt). But I've always found a way to go have fun for cheap (with connections). You're not handling being #1 very well. T's & P's.

I really look forward to pak'ing with fanning in south florida!

Application in at the KSU ticket office, but I'm hardly much of a donor, so we'll see.   :crossfingers:   If not, secondary market here I come.  Top row of the upperdeck in the corner is ok with me, I just want to be there.
