Best advice, have your season ticket holder/donor friends order extra. That's what I'm doing.  :crossfingers:

Going off of this breakdown, hopefully K-State distributes more like LSU and less like Bama.

wonder what the chances of snagging a student ticket are if you don't have icat.

Trying to weigh the benefits of just donating more money versus buying tickets on the open market.

I guess at least the donation is a tax deduction and would probably give it anyway eventually.  Tough call though.

Just talked to the ticket office.  She said they'd originally planned to be able to accomodate all pre-orders, but she heard they've received 4x as many as last year so that probably won't happen. Seriously considering going to buy a car at Briggs so I can immediately become top 10.

FWIW on dealing with scalpers in Florida:

# Florida law bans the reselling of tickets for an event on the property where the event is taking place.
Dollar Surcharge
# According to an Office of Legislative Research report, resellers are permitted by law to resell some tickets for $1 more than the face value. This can only be done legally if the tickets are for "passage or accommodations on common carriers, (2) to multi-day or multi-event tickets to a park or entertainment complex, or (3) sold through an Internet website that does not meet statutory criteria."

So just buy a fake badge and walk up to some scumbag scalper and offer him face value.

Last year we fulfilled all request out of our 12,500 Cotton Bowl ticket allotment, but it was very close.  That game was $125-$200 per ticket and easily driveable from Kansas.  Surely we'll be fine with ~17,000 tickets that cost $325-$350 at a place that takes 25 hours to drive to?  right?  RIGHT?

lol at any one who isn't a decent donor thinking they will get tickets if there are only 17,000 available.   just about every donor with season tickets will buy the max amount of tickets they are allowed.

the price point you initially listed was awful (I once purchased Super Bowl tickets for a former employer for less than that) but the issue was more the method than the price point.  As anyone experienced buying tickets on the secondary market will tell you, time is your friend.  The closer you get to an event, the lower the prices go.  It's a time honored tradition that won't change with K-State playing in a big game.

its actually like a bell curve, the baseline was whenever they had initial sales, they will steadily increase until after K-Staters and Oregonians stop feeling like they have to have tickets right now.  At that point they will steadily decrease until the game.  Also bear in mind that South Florida has the most buyer friendly secondary market in America.  There will be 6 locals at that game, having no SEC team will make it even better.

What exactly makes it the most buyer-friendly market in the country?

i think his point was that no one in that part of the country cares about college football, so the local demand (a good portion of who tickets are given to) is really low.

If you don't have/know any donor friends/ticket holders, you did it wrong in college.

I'm digging that  :D in your signature. I read a serious post from 8mp, and then I see the  :D at the end and it makes me smile knowing that purple cat fans everywhere are happy, no matter what. I took my car into get it checked out yesterday and was told it would be a $2000 repair. The smile never left my face. I just said screw it and went out and bought a new car and kept right on smiling.

This except change college football to sports.  Plug your ears, Winters.  The Heat started doing white outs during their first title run to hide empties.  They had significant empties for the finals versus Dallas that season.  The Orange Bowls have regularly had tickets on Stubhub for under $5.  Kansas State should be an interesting litmus test, but even at the '97 Fiesta Bowl when we supposedly had 50,000 fans I got a $20 ticket with no effort before I knew anything about secondary markets.

The Orange Bowl is always the worst attended BCS game and Miami is the shittiest of all BCS host cities. KSU Cat fans should see decent prices on the secondary market.
