i can't understand why on earth anyone wants to keep DST but what they should do is put a provision in the bill that they will do it for a 1 or 2 year trial period, and if after those 1 or 2 years there is enough support to bring back DST then the bill goes away. I think most folks will find that its really fine and nice not having to change your clocks and eff with your sleep cycle.
Know what's the craziest thing i've learned about DST? Pre-having children, falling back always meant and extra hour of sleep and springing forward meant losing an hour of sleep. Do you know who doesn't understand or care about DST? Babies. They are going to wake up when they wake up. So falling back actually means getting up an hour earlier and springing forward means getting an extra hour.
