The 1998 offense was first in the nation with 46.9 ppg the d was 9th in the nation with 15.2 papg

I think a strong argument exist for "98 at its best" is better than "12 at its best" but "12 at it worst" is better than "98 at it worst."  Maybe the team that wouldn't shoot itself in the foot is better to have. :dunno:

98 fans in 98 stadium: never have so few done so much with so little.
But somehow those 42,000 made it the loudest place on earth for opposing teams. 9 of every 10 wabashings resulted in earth changing its polarity. Gilbert Godfrey described it as loud, obnoxious and grating.

:dubious:  you don't have to put 98 down to lift 12 up.

they are both pretty.

98 is the crazy hot redhead you had a complicated relationship with in college.  12 is the sensible brunette you marry.

All of this is accurate.  The brunette also keeps the kids out of my hair, and brings me beers during the game.  (But I'll never forget the crazy hot redhead)

That rack is a massive rack but is also kind of ugly to look at except the part of the rack that looks like chris harper and the other part that looks like adorable little tiny baby lockett

'98 is that stunning supermodel who can do everything but make you a sandwich

'12 is that attractive housewife who can go full naughty librarian when all the doors are closed and the kids are in bed

Did I get this right?

As long as said naughty librarian housewife brings me beers (with my sandwich) and keeps the kids out of my hair.  She also has a glorious rack (Harp, TLBL), tight little ass (ABJ, Tug, Tre), toned firm abs (Hubert, TT, Miller time), Makes $90k/year from home (Optimus), enjoys watching football but knows she needs to get back in the kitchen and stir the chili (Oline), and once the kids are asleep sits down and has a few beers with her loving husband (Dline).

In summation '12 >>>>> '98

This team is not better than the 98 team.

Yes it is.

Bish>Klein. Bish and Snyder offense>Klein and Snyder offense. 98 D>12 D. Not saying we have less of a chance at a ship just saying 98>12
I don't think 98 offense is better than 12, I have never seen a offense that can score at what ever pace it wants. Bill can have the offense slowly move the ball down the field and score in 9 mins or dial up a mean 2 min drive. It is truly insane and we haven't got deep into the playbook, all the gadget plays are sitting in the playbook waiting for a rainy day.

Was WVU the first game you watched this year?  How many points did the offense put up against OU?  Did we score at will against Iowa State?  North Texas?  Please.

Not "at will", rather "at whatever pace it wants."  OU was a ball control game, same with ISU.  UNT was a damn scrimmage.  KU was a quick strike/show little bro who's boss.  Virginia Western Technical Institute was another spring game where Klein called all the plays.

This offense can play keep away, or answer with a quick strike.  It's a wonderful luxury to have.

98 was a little hotter with an amazing body and extremely wild in bed, but had some daddy issues and never wanted to fully commit.  You still think about her all the time though.

12 is who you married.  Hot, nice massive rack, keeps the kids out of your hair and makes your life wonderfully satisfied in almost every respects even though you still think about 98 quite a bit.

'12 is better.

Doesn't get rattled. Doesn't beat itself. Incredibly efficient. Harder to defend. And most importantly :bill: is older and even wiser.

The senior leadership from Optimus, AB and Harp is incredible. I can't remember a better trio of senior leaders.
"I started calling him John during the game, cause he was rocking it like No. 7 -- like Elway," Harper said."

The '12 wildcats could have played a schedule against the top 11 teams in '98, then played the #2 team in the B12CG, and the #1 team in the NCG, and would have put up better numbers than that.

Remember back to 98 and to this team, and the 2003 squad. The 2003 and 98 teams seem to play like our hair was on fire and just out played everyone, we felt invisible. When we hit a tough patch it fell apart.

This 2012 squad just seem like it is a business meeting every game. Go out do what needs to be done. If something does not go right, we fix it and don't make issues affect us.

Nut hit the nail on the head with this one. This team "actually" buys-in to snyders philosophy and is the most cohesive unit weve seen in snyders tenure, where as 98 03 had more self-promoters but possibly more talented across the board. Heres my attempt to rank ea position from ea yr. U can make a case for all 3 yrs of glory although 2012 isnt in the clear yet.  Order 1st thru 3rd.

QB- 12, 98, 03
RB- 03, 12, 98
FB- 12, 98, 03
WR- 12, 98, 03
OL- 12, 98, 03
DL- 98, 03, 12
LB- 98, 03, 12
CB- 98, 12, 03
S- 98, 03, 12
K- who gives

Offensive coaches always talk about "taking what the defense gives", but this team really does it. The fact is the OU and ISU defenses simply don't give you a lot because the defend the run and pass well. However, WVU's defense gave up the pass, so we took it. Granted, I'd say we protected, threw, and caught the ball better collectively against WVU than we have in any other game (and especially against ISU), but on the other hand those are both pretty good defenses and were road games.
