(6.87 yards per play) and 57th nationally in yards per play surrendered on defense (5.25 yards per play).

But I would add the caveat of how many teams have faced the caliber of Miami or OU as an opponent to this point?

There are some defenses that rank ahead of us at the moment that are not as good as our defense.  Of course, given the two offenses in Missouri State and North Texas it was apparent we just let them have some yards between the 20s.  Seems funny that North Texas put up more points than did either Miami or OU (on the road).

Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

Also, our national rank in these other offense categories:

5th - 3rd down conversion pct
7th - sacks allowed
10th - tackles for loss allowed
15th - turnovers lost
1st - 4th down conversion pct
17th - scoring offense

(6.87 yards per play) and 57th nationally in yards per play surrendered on defense (5.25 yards per play).

Per cfbstats.com, this is the highest offensive output (by a longshot) and the lowest defensive output since they started storing these rankings in 2007.

This offense is beating some of those high-flying Freemaw teams by almost a yard per play.

I think it's time to really start believing.

K-State's best ever yards per play; 6.47 YPP in 1998.
K-State's best ever points per play; .66 PPP in 2002.

This year we are at the aforementioned 6.87 YPP and .64 PPP.

Well, our stats should take a hit after we play KU.

even more impressive to me considering the 1998 non cons were 66-0, 73-7 and 62-7 and 02 were 48-3, 68-0, 68-13 and 27-20(USC)

I was of the opinion prior to this season that if the offensive line turned into what I might believe it could be then this offense would roll through some folks.  That appears to be evolving.  I can't wait to get Stiverson back at RG.

What were we in these two categories from 2004-2011? Is this a stat I can easily look up without having to calculate?

What is the prognosis for Puetz and Stiverson?  Are we getting them back by Kansas?  Iowa State?

I'm not opposed to keeping Whitehair where he is now and letting Rooks stay at RT when Stiverson gets back.
