Does BCS factor in opponent rank in some way?  I know margin of victory is out.  Are there any kind of points scored included?

no, just W/L allegedly, but I don't see how they calculate anything with only that.

Because while correct, the website Michigan linked was incomplete. He's talking specifically about MOV, which doesn't factor into the rankings so it is just win or lose in that sense. But SOS is also a part of the computers (and human polls too, hello Louisville).

There's a reason MOV isn't in the BCS and a prime example of it is ND vs. OU compared to KSU vs. OU. Plus unsportsmanlike stuff, too.

The link said they can't pull anything from a box score other than who won or lost.

Basically what all these polls are doing is calculating SOS different ways and determining who did best based on that.

Turned on ESPN. BCS Countdown teaser came on during NFL Live. Heard "What? Alabama's not number 1?" At first I was  :emawkid:, but then I was  :dubious:

So to make sure I have my basics correct: SOS will include rankings at time they play, but will not be effected if they drop later?  Here is basically what I'm asking. We beat a #15 WVU or whatever they were.  At the end of the year when looking at rankings will it be shown that we beat a ranked team on week 7 in our SOS calculation or will it be an unranked team?

Holy crap, how in the hell is ND ahead of us in the computers when we were tied last week?  Good news is we're running right by those losers next week.  Better news, Johnny Football is going to shock the world!

okay people explain the computers thing to me.  how does that happen?

also can we now root for every team to lose?  Last weeked we needed ND as a firewall and that hasn't helped us apparently.

You know who is to blame for all of this? The LSU kicker. If he makes that, and they actually get to kick it off to Alabama, it's just us an Oregon right now, praying the other one loses so that we get to play the crappiest undefeated team that has ever existed: Notre Dame.

you don't understand how this works.   See all those 4s and 5s beside Oregon?  If ND loses, those become 3s and 4s.  And the gap narrows between KSU and Oregon

its like RPI for many of the computers.  playing the big 10 teams is helping ND a bit because they in turn feast on MAC teams.  its all about opponents opponents schedule.  I personally think its a stupid way to determine SOS ( and rewards a team for losing to "good teams" more so than beating average or below average teams).

Les Miles is to blame.   Who fakes a FG with the lead, at the 29 yd line on 4th and rough ridin' 12?!?
