this conundrum haunts my dreams, dlew.  I have nightmares about it.  on the one hand, I think more people will "get it" if we play it over the sound system.  on the other hand, I think the band is more likely to happen.  it's a goddamn quandary.

holy cow guys i had been fighting the same battle in my head. that damn JMU band version looks like so much damn fun, but you're right, who's to say it doesn't just go into the basket of 'ha ha' songs the band plays during timeouts.

 :embarrassed: don't know what i want. maybe we consult the Collegian to help us spread the word of what it is supposed to be?

Guys, it needs to be the studio version at first. Trust me, I know about these things. Needs to be the studio version cranked through at least mid-October and then if the band gets it together enough to cover up the fact that it won't have an electric guitar, bass, or drum set, THEN the band can play it.

If the marching band plays the song, it's going to sound WAY more like a polka/waltz than it should. Gotta pump it through the loud speakers about halfway through the third quarter. That's when games start getting real serious.

The band is rough ridin' horrible.  I would put them on par with most middle school bands, but a little less creative.

Has anybody heard jc's or the animals thoughts on this?  Seems like they would enjoy it.

Obvious solution.  The first time SWP graces BSFS, it'll be played by a band alright.  That band?  Gogol Bordello.  PR guy can surprise everyone at the end of the 3rd quarter with a hokey "from the big apple to the little apple" intro.  They come out on a rolling stage towed by some vehicle driven by Willie, rock out, get rolled off, and it's the stuff of legends. 

At subseqent games, the song is played via video of that performance (audio sweetened if necessary) during the 3rd quarter/4th quarter break.  Currie et al can KSTATEO some football clips into the video if that'll make it more copacetic to the BSFS patrons who don't "get it."

Then, if the ksu band can get it together sufficiently, they can take over on occasion.

EDIT: PA guy, not PR guy.  D-rew is our PR guy.
