I haven't caught too much of the olymics this year but i've managed to catch a good amount of short track speed skating and it seems like every time china doesn't win a race they go to the review and determine that someone else cheated and china automatically wins. It was kind of impressive trying to hear the commentators explain it in a diplomatic way like there was some chinese general standing behind their shoulder letting them know to choose their words carefully.

Yeah I’ve soured on speed skating because of how DQs can change the entire thing well after the fact. I would however note for the record that almost all the US announcers are working out of Connecticut or something like that.

It’s a great thing to watch as a family. Maybe one of the best things.

They have giant Olympic rings mounted on the Eiffel Tower. Sporting venues set up at historic sites all over town. Marathon course will follow the Seine for a ways (doesn't end at Arc de Triomphe for some reason).
Should be a great spectacle.

Is Paris the finest city in the world? One could make that argument.

And I agree that finishing spot they went with is so rive gauche.

I have tickets for water polo and volleyball and tae Kwon do and the women's soccer semis in Lyon. Might go to see more, who knows?

Also hotel and Airbnb prices are pretty reasonable now if you can get a cheap flight!

IMO the course should've been reversed, ending down the Champ Elysees into the Place de Concorde in front of the Louvre

Also because our women dominate gymnastics (usually). I like to watch just about anything we're good at.
