I really do wonder just what exactly the people who have ballots are supposed to use as their criteria. Everyone keeps pointing to McLovin's numbers. Okay, let's explore that. So, we'll operate on the assumption that stats are really important. Okay, by that argument, any QB in a high tempo throw first spread offense already has a leg up. The SEC is basically already eliminated because that's not the way they play. You'd pretty much be forced to give the trophy to any QB coached by Mike Leach who is more likely pass on 4th and inches than he is to run it.
Okay, well we definitely don't want that, so let's move back towards that most valuable player to his team thought. Is Johnny Hates Jews the most valuable most valuable player to his team? I dunno...maybe its easier to forget the early games in the season, maybe those games don't matter, but having had watched both of those games (well before CK was really a contender b/c at the time Geno wasn't in perpetual frown mode) i really thought Johnny No Blacks made plenty of mistakes in both the Florida and LSU games that led to those losses...including pivotal game changing INTs against LSU that directly lead to LSU putting points on the board.
i guess my point is there is no point. there is no hard and fast guidelines just like there is no smoking gun to say this is why you win or lose the heisman because there will always be exceptions for both the current candidates and previous winners. Bottom line CK will almost assuredly be left out from an award he very richly deserves, but to try to make sense of it is kind of pointless.
