so, can we talk more about this el pollo rey place or should i start a new thread because i can't get it off my mind. how is it that they can just take a chicken and grill it, but have it taste 10 times better than what everyone elses grilled chicken tastes like?

it's the best chicken i've ever had.  i think the secret is their lime juice brine.  i've been working on recreating it.  i think the seasoning is just plain old chicken seasoning.

lime juice brine huh? interesting. it also the best chicken that i've ever had and would pay solid money for a method to recreate it at my house. maybe you, j-dubs and i could pool our money and then bribe them for instructions.  :dunno:

I did a fried chicken recipe once that had Rosemary in the brine (very good). Never had el pollo rey, but maybe they know this trick too?

ya that's a good pro tip abe froman, except rosemary is a complete crap herb and we're talking about great food.  so, maybe opposite day your post and we're good to go.

there was an El Pollo Rico in Olathe when i was a kid that had a grilled chicken that had a lime taste like it was brined that way.  it was amazing.

Rosemary is great if you are good at using spices.

Do a roast chicken using rosemary and a few others. Can confirm it is delicious.

look, i'm sure that whatever fried rosemary chicken you had was just fine. i'm also pretty sure that the chicken at el pollo ray in kansas city kansas would mop the floor with it and then put it with the baby in some bath water and throw them all out. case closed on operation chicken, vedict plaintiff.

Is this the place where I tell you that rosemary is also very good if you get it right out of the garden and put it on top of quiche as it is baking?

I've heard this as well.  So you know what I'm going to do?  I'm going to go there, eat some sushi, and then report back to this thread.

I concur.  Use to eat there all the time.  Super low key atmosphere and great food.

Really just everything on 39th is delicious. Po's? Uhm yeah have the standard cashew chicken. Genghis Khan? Amazeballs, put an egg in your food, and eat like 7 crab rangoon. D'bronx? Duh. Prospero's bookstore? Even their shelf dust is probably delicious.
