I'm really digging Gram & Dun lately, although I almost cried when Baja 600 closed. Also, always love La Bodega. Their happy hour starts at 2 p.m. with sangria pitchers for $6.
Blue Koi is disgusting and anyone who claims to love it read the reviews and can't think for themselves.
And Fanning, we really aren't the same person and I would normally never admit this to anyone, but I love Golden Ox.

Baja 600 was garbage.

Blue Koi is tasty, and I've never read a review of it.

Will be in KC the end of this week.  Staying at the Plaza.  Looking for a good seafood/sushi place.  GO!

so, can we talk more about this el pollo rey place or should i start a new thread because i can't get it off my mind. how is it that they can just take a chicken and grill it, but have it taste 10 times better than what everyone elses grilled chicken tastes like?

Ninfa's is just down the road from El Pollo Rey and is pretty cool. everything is good but the tamales are great. looks like a dump so you know it's good and they serve it on plastic plates with plastic silverware.

it's the best chicken i've ever had.  i think the secret is their lime juice brine.  i've been working on recreating it.  i think the seasoning is just plain old chicken seasoning.

Best bang for your sushi buck are the strip mall mom n pop places like Jun's @ 75th and State line and Haru at 135th & State line.

Nara downtown is pretty good and has a much more fun atmosphere than the above places but the food is not as good.  Same can be said about Raw (119th and Nall).

Wasahi at 72nd and North Oak is pretty great. (Gladstone)

Also Johnny Jo's pizza is back open just west of the plaza.
