novel

this...or Rieger or blue bird....il lazzarone isn't "nice" but it's a great energy place.
Funny you should mention that, she just suggested it, but I've already made my reservations for Voltaire and I'm pretty excited about it.  :D

Can't go wrong with either....Voltaire just annoys me because you can't walk there....without doing a death defying 12th street bridge walk.

i like it for the half price sushi. wish they had a bigger patio but opening up the garage door to the bar is fun.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

Happy hour boozin and sushi are the only benefits.  There's better sushi elsewhere but HH is great bang for the buck.

Last time I walked by I saw a group of mid 50's 2nd/3rd marriage couples with bad tans and cosmetic surgery (male and female) and they appeared to be having a good time.

Yes Voltaire is awesome!  The place that was there before Voltaire was called the R bar and was even better. Best dinner/drinks I've ever had.

Did you go to amigoni? It's a nice place with above avg wine. Although I know little about wine.

a romantic evening could start by getting takeout from voltaire and eating it somewhere else. just call it in, they're very flexible.

a phone call to voltaire for takeout and then an immediate phone call to j-dub should take care of all your romantic planning for the evening

We never made it to Amigoni, but we'll do that sometime soon.

they're on fire right now in KC, doing very well for themselves.  i think that they do a really good job developing their concept themes and executing on them.  people in their late 20's to mid 40's love what they do.
pretty good food, nothing like novel/story/bluestem but that's not what they're trying to be.  for them though, it's all about the concept.  i'm really interested in how they put together the spanish tapas, not many places can do it right.
