What's the consensus here on collagen peptides? Whenever I think of taking it based on what I see generally, I then read other stuff that says there isn't any scientifically proven benefits of it yet? Anyone have any real life experiences with this stuff. Trying to protect my joints here.

the collagen thing confuses me. your body consumes the peptides and breaks them down into amino acids, which are then used to build proteins. your body doesn't know the difference between the types of protein in a way that it will use different proteins for different purposes.

it's kind of like saying "you should eat more beef heart to make your heart stronger." doesn't make any sense. just eat protein.

This is the kind of expert advice I expect from goEMAW.

https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/gelatin-benefits

Some citation to the benefits there, but I'm not very sciencey, so I won't try to convince anyone that it's true or false. My n=1 experience: I had joint pain in my thumb and index finger, but I no longer feel it in my thumb and it's more mild in my index. Maybe that would have hairnet regardless?

I also take creatine, but don't really notice any of the cognitive benefits either. Recently started lifting again so may as well continue with it, it's cheap like gelatin so can't hurt to take it.

if you think it helps you, certainly keep taking it, there's no harm.

side note, i like the Barbell Medicine podcast because they are extremely data/evidence-centered and here's their opinion:

https://www.barbellmedicine.com/blog/collagen-protein-and-tendinopathy/

Quote
Overall, I don’t think the current evidence suggests that there is a reliable effect of supplemental collagen protein on tendinopathy. More well-controlled studies investigating the unique effects of collagen supplements (ideally versus other protein sources) on tendinopathy are needed.

Anyone on this board have experience with Hyrox? Seems kind of similar to CrossFit except maybe more cardio and the competitions follow a more standard structure. There are some Hyrox influencers who keep showing up in my reels.

Went and picked this up last night. Excited for it to tell me how out of shape I am after it gets two weeks worth of data.

Imagine trying to remember how many times to go around a track for 1km while you are tired as balls.

Garmin makes nice smartwatches. I've been using vivoactive for years. I currently have the 5th version.
