According to Egyptian media, the animals in the Cairo zoo are "mulling suicide".

Quote
Giraffes, rhinos, elephants and deer are contemplating suicide, Egyptian newspaper al-Masry al-Youm reported this week, citing gunfire and protester chants as reasons behind the zoo animals’ alleged agony.

Cairo zoo psychologists told the newspaper what they believe to be the animals’ suicidal thoughts.

They Egyptian media is rough ridin' marvelous. And yes, can you imagine a more fantastic job than "Cairo Zoo Psychologist"? It would be like the House of large animal vets.

Here's a collection of different versions of the MB's "solidarity with Raba'a" logo (Raba'a was the huge sit-in where the most people got killed last week; it also means "four" in Arabic).

As the blogger points out, Egyptians are super bored under the curfew (it's typical to stay out to 1-2 several nights a week; even families regularly stay out til midnight). There's several twitter trends related to it, included a #curfewplaylist similar to a goEMAW turntable dance party. In the meantime, they've also created several satirical versions of the Raba'a logo (including a lot making fun of Morsi's terrible English, which is always a special treat).

Quote
“Raba” – This is the original Rabaa solidarity poster denouncing the massacre that started this whole saga on Facebook

Quote
Rabaa – but with the Egyptian middle finger eff you instead

Quote
"Do you know who says what and how” – a famous quote that turned into a joke by Morsi

Quote
"We will pull out your family’s eye” – literal translation of a common slang term, but the meaning is that we will show you no mercy
  :eye:

Quote
"Sisi" in Arabic Sisi is also "pony"

I know, right? I mean, these are the things they're fighting about it. There's a tattletale in the office, too. But that's a whole different story.

That would be such a great epi.  Have someone go through some petty normal office bitchy issue, make a mental note of it to run home and tell their friends and significant other and show that person having to clear security and navigate through protests where the security forces are shooting crowd members without prejudice all the while they are still worked up about how absolutely unfair/etc the office sitch was that day.

"....and now my fav store at the All Starz mall is closed, so I can't even exchange the shirt I bought last week that was too small.  I am having the worst day(on cell phone with crap blowing up in the background)"

I sometimes get my daily recaps about the catty thing so-and-so said with frequent expletive-filled interjections about how Egyptian drivers are so rough ridin' stupid they are like rough ridin' animals WHAT WHAT (screamed out the window in Arabic and English) WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO YA HAYAWAN! Meanwhile, there's gunshots and chants echoing in the background and can you believe she said that Blake didn't even know how to respond it was sooooo uncomfortable in the office the rest of the afternoon.

fantastic episode of the show, FR.

as someone else pointed out, a whole season could be devoted to how there is a civil war going on outside, but they still do off-the-wall things and act like it's all fine.
