I am glad you're getting out of there, FR. Safe travels to you and Mrs. FR.

I just came home from work. I'm not leaving the country.

Well, that's disappointing. It looks scary over there. Can't you make yourself less essential?

My mistake.  I am kinda hoping you get to watch some K-State football live at the newly renovated LHC LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium this year. (its a rebel free zone).

I'm kind of confused as to how Morsi was elected, unless it was rigged. Do the locals believe the MB is not a radical Islamic organization, or was that what they wanted?

Its not like Egypt would be the first country with a rigged election.

I'll defer to felix, but I don't think there is any allegation that happened.

Exactly. There's electoral regrets but not allegations. As dumb as the name sounds, the "lemon squeezers" are a real thing.

Neat pic of protesters shining laser pointers at a military helicopter, which I'm told is murder on a pilot.

I wondered what the lasers were all about.

It's so odd. Those green laser pointers are at every event. It annoys me that I don't know more about them.

Here's a different angle from the AFP

Read some stuff about police helicopters nearly crashing because of a single beam.   Guess it hits the cockpit glass and has some sort of prismish effect. Not like splitting into the spectrum but just flooding the cabin with light.

Also, I'm assuming Saul will enjoy the text I just received from an Egyptian friend:

The guy meets with two U.S. SOS's and significant portions of the populace want him gone?

Don't they know a man the U.S. can do business with when they see one?

Also, what goes on at these protests.  Is it pretty much just a bunch of people sitting around saying "BOO Morsi!" and another guy says "I agree. Morsi's gotta go!"

Go stir things up a little bit Felix.

Did I see film today of a sewn together U.S. and Israeli flag being burned during this protest?

Hey didn't Hillary meet with Gaddafi before we set him up and supported his overthrow, or was that his son?

I don't know, meeting with U.S. SOS seems like kind of a hit or miss proposition for world leaders.   It could be all great, or it could be you're dodging Tomahawks in a few weeks, and watching your military get cluster bombed by F-15's.

I feel like the US protests are way behind the curve on the raping thing.  I bet that crap would have made the pud ass Occupy movement much more interesting.

I'm assuming these protests are predominantly male, and I am now wondering if this comment means we're watching an episode of "Oz" where all of the characters are are outside, and we are looking down on it from the sky.

Sounds plausible. The Israel thing is really fascinating in light of the MB's legend as the first group to take up arms against the newly-created state.

There are legit grass root movements (like tahrir bodyguard) self-policing these things. Yesterday, they set up a "women only" area right in the center of the action. You'll probably read more about this soon, but there are groups intentionally organizing mob attacks for political reasons.
