From Kitchen...

Quote
A lot of speculation exists regarding the reasoning for Kansas State basketball player Jordan Henriquez‘s indefinite suspension for conduct detrimental to the team, including just how long “indefinite” may be. Time, as it were, may be the overall theme.

According to a source, Henriquez has been vocal inside the team recently about his playing time. He was consistent with his displeasure to the point that head coach Frank Martin tired of it. Therefore, the coach made the decision to put his junior forward in what was described as a “time out” from practice and games for the time being, with a meeting scheduled between the two next week. Depending on the meeting’s outcome, the exact day of which is unknown at this point, the thought is that Henriquez should be back soon after.

The source did not say what ultimately prompted Martin’s decision to issue the suspension.

“Jordan has to understand that it is a privilege to be a member of this basketball team,” Martin said in a school release announcing the suspension. “Hopefully, the time away will help him understand that there are consequences to our actions and make him a stronger player.”

Prior to the released statement, Martin met with media and talked more about Henriquez.

“He is a fine young man.  He needs to refocus on the positive things that he has done here for two years,” Martin said. “He just needs a moment away so he can regain the vision that he had when he came here.  He is like me and everyone else at that age.  He is at a moment where he lost sense of what is expected of him on a daily basis.

“He just needs to regroup.  He and I will visit next week, make decisions and move forward from there.”

Henriquez is averaging 18.9 minutes, 7.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.29 blocks per game this season. He had been averaging 20.3 minutes until recording only eight minutes against both Oklahoma and Texas the past two contests. He did not appear in the second half against the Longhorns.

K-State plays at Oklahoma State on Saturday before traveling to Lubbock, Texas, to face Texas Tech next Wednesday.

Oh, forgot to add how I love when these things happen and it brings out the tucks talking about how LHC LHC LHC Bill Snyder or Bill Self treat their players so much better.

It really reminds you about the power of PR, spin and public image.

This seems somewhat complimentary of Frank, you okay?

Overall I like Frank a lot . . . sometimes I think he's too over the top, I wish he would recruit better, I don't like how his teams are a complete offensive mess at times-but that's the way he likes it apparently, and it is kind of straight out of the Huggins system, a train wreck that pounds the glass.   I really hate the "everybody run to the ball" defense which at times trades two's for threes or a simple layup for an oppossing crowd loving dunk.   But that said, I'll take what Frank is doing, over what we had prior to Frank/Hugs all day every day.

wow!  You'll take Frank over what we had in Wooly/Asbury/Altman?  Damn dax, you are generous today!  And you're a rough ridin' genius to boot!

You've got a bad attitude, and you're probably a squawk.   Squawk outed right here.

His life. He's not losing a power struggle to anyone, if the rumors about JO in the locker room are true.

That being said, I have no trouble believing the Kitchen story is bullshit either.

I think you may need to reassess what the term "power struggle" means.  Is JOs dad the AD or a huge donor or something?

wonder what kind of suspension this is?

option 1.  Frank says," JO you are the most selfish D.O.B. I have ever met in my life, you need to  take a week off and get your head straight."

option 2.  JO quits the team after a spat with Frank followed by Frank saying " JO, just take the next week off, we will both calm down and talk this through then."  (while praying to God and all that is holy that Jordan doesn't pack his bags)
it’s not like I’m tired of WINNING, but dude, let me catch my breath.

ask frank, call his radio show and ask him.  i'm sure he'll deliver some non sequitur and then ramble on about leadership or some bullshit.

i have a problem believing it because it would mean frank is just a complete Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).  i mean, an absolute, complete mental Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).  if you can't address a guy wanting minutes w/out suspending him and making it a public mess, then you're a complete Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

Maybe he DOB'd Frank at practice when Frank was yelling at somebody on the baseline. Frank didn't appreciate being DOB'd and JO got sassy about it. This scenario seems pretty likely.

BITB just said he heard that JO like the ville more than basketball so Frank told him to enjoy for a week and see what happens... then BITB said he had sources tell him JO was indeed enjoying the ville Saturday night.  Lebeo or someone went on about how he thinks if something were leagalized :bigtoke: he'd be with the team.... does KK know what he is talking about? probably not, but there you go  :blah: :

When you live in a place with so many fun things to do, you're going to occasionally get guys that lose their focus.  It's just something we're going to have to deal with from time to time.
