Not this specific play, but in general he does a great job of avoiding contact.Yes. I was very proud of him.Maybe his first half is rushing to the fore-front of my memory, but I thought he was great last night. 24 min, 5-10 FG, 1-3 3pt, 3-4 FT, 3 OReb, 2 Ast, 1 TO, 14 pointsWhat more does anyone want/expect from Jamar?I expect a senior to not do the following as an opponent is trying desperately to stay in a game:6:52 23 - 36 Jamar Samuels missed layup6:25 25 - 36 Jamar Samuels turnover5:51 27 - 36 Jamar Samuels personal foul5:29 28 - 36 Jamar Samuels missed layup5:26 28 - 36 Jamar Samuels substitution (OUT)

Anyone know what Rodney's pro prospects are? Like is there a chance he could leave us after this year? he's got size, can shoot, athleticism, defensive skills, etc. Rodney if you're reading this and you're a lottery pick, go pro, we'll miss you!
I just sometimes see Rodney play

The funny part is that ticket is the whole reason I was in Manhattan to watch the Cotton Bowl the night before and I got so crap faced that I couldn't get up the next day. On the bright side, the first time you gave me a ticket you remarked about how you had no clue who the hell I was....now you do.

Quote from: mocat on January 19, 2012, 10:57:23 AMThere was one last night (I think it may have been his last floater in the lane) where you could see a charge coming for about 2 full seconds, instead he slid to his right magically in the air and made the floater, no contact. I fistpumped so hard that my forearm did a 360.This is why Rod's FTR is so low. Not this specific play, but in general he does a great job of avoiding contact.

You denied someone else the opportunity to go to the game
Pointing out that guys like Jamar can be complete clusters on the court, who regularly resort to stupid habits is not hating them . . . be honest and understand that this entire team, with the exception of McOReb can be a giant steaming pile of awful on the basketball court early and often.

You denied someone else the opportunity to go to the game for free, and you're rough ridin' yukking it up. Are you that socially inept, Aspergers possibly? Are you just using humor to shield your embarrassment? Or are you just that big of a dickface? [redacted] don't mock me for the FTr talking point, it was my damn observation in the first place. You're kind of right, but your observation is too simple. Yes, shooting floaters lends you to getting fouled less, but he's shooting more floaters now than ever yet his FTr is shooting up. He shot 10 FTs on Wednesday night. His FTr is improving even though he's shooting more floaters, because the ball is in his hands more and he's going to the basket much harder than ever. You don't have much control over how often you are fouled when you're being aggressive. If you could control how often you are fouled I'm pretty sure Big Gip would rather just shoot FGs instead of shooting 9 FTs every 40 minutes.

This year he has 6 games with FTrs around 60, which is pretty good for him. But he also has 7 with FTrs of 11 or lower. Then a few up around his average for the year (30). Even in Big 12 play he's better, but he still goes 28.5, 11.7, 57.1, 25.0, and 58.8 in his 5 games. And most of his fouls drawn seem to occur more in transition situations; when he penetrates he seems much more interested in avoiding contact and hitting his killer floater than trying to draw contact and possible And 1s.

The point here is that floaters as an explanation for his FTr is an explanation that is sorely lacking. And I don't think he is "avoiding contact" he's getting himself in the best scoring positions for Rodney.

When they got inside defenses (Jake more than Denis) they often tried to draw contact at the rim as much as trying to score. But they were smaller with better handles.
