we got a glimpse of our A game when he and Samuels both decided to go beast mode in the first 10 minutes.  if those 2 are running that good and not getting into foul trouble it won't matter how bad the defense gets.  we'll score 1.5ppp

All I can say is, this is the Gruds I saw ballin out at the Manhattan Classic about 3 and a half years ago. Obviously, the considerable step up in compettiion has had something to do with him transferring that dominant play to KSU, but hey I'm not complaining, I couldn't be happier to see him find his comfort zone.

Even then though I must admit, he wasn't knocking down those mid-range floaters and jumpers with the merciless efficiency that he is now.

Just phenomenal play from Gruds, , he earned it.

And he's gotten ridiculously good at getting inside defenses to get the shot, plus knowing when to pull up to get it off. Really spectacular body control to consistently hit that shot. Plus I think we did a better job getting him the ball in spots to score last night.

But not in Fran's Big 12 top 5 prior to cresting 30 points last night.

According to Fran, you can now put him in a class with Tyshawn Taylor!

Makes me wonder if he's always been able to ball like this and was just taking a back seat to let pullzbe the star. What a great guy.

This is the big diff.  Discussion last year was that he would be unstoppable if he could drive.  We need to make our Rodney Wish List for next year now.

I like the fact that he was a 4 star.  We should recruit more of those.

Agreed. Still, I will honestly say that I never thought he would be a first team All Big 12. He's got a decent shot at B12 POY next year. The way he's expanded his game this season has been amazing.

There was one last night (I think it may have been his last floater in the lane) where you could see a charge coming for about 2 full seconds, instead he slid to his right magically in the air and made the floater, no contact. I fistpumped so hard that my forearm did a 360.

This is why Rod's FTR is so low. Not this specific play, but in general he does a great job of avoiding contact.

Yes. He's turning into the anti-Jamar in the way he attacks the rim.

Speaking of which, Jamar did a fantastic job finishing last night. I was very proud of him.

Yes, for the most part, he still had a moment or two, an nearly uncontested lay-up comes to mind.

Maybe his first half is rushing to the fore-front of my memory, but I thought he was great last night.

24 min, 5-10 FG, 1-3 3pt, 3-4 FT, 3 OReb, 2 Ast, 1 TO, 14 points

What more does anyone want/expect from Jamar?

I find it positively shocking that he did better finishing against a front line with one player over 6-7 than he did against Baylor and KU.

I expect a senior to not do the following as an opponent is trying desperately to stay in a game:

6:52     23   -   36   Jamar Samuels missed layup
6:25     25   -   36   Jamar Samuels turnover
5:51     27   -   36   Jamar Samuels personal foul
5:29     28   -   36   Jamar Samuels missed layup
5:26     28   -   36   Jamar Samuels substitution (OUT)
