I love the "punting to Joe Adams" talking point.
I'm going to give you the privilege of reading 1 post by me that's straight up.
It was no secret that this game had two teams evenly matched (6-8) with Arkansas believed to have a slight edge in one or two facets of the game. I also think most experts would say we probably had the edge in size, speed and depth, but not so much that a very good team like KSU couldn't overcome. When you have two teams this evenly matched, a game like this comes down to momentum. I doubt anyone who knows crap about football anticipated a defensive battle, but most people who know crap about football understand that in a game where both D's are dominating play, the last thing you want to do is give the opponent an opportunity to grab momentum from a special teams play. Maybe it's an Arkansas thing, we've witnessed the friker making huge returns for 4 years. I realize your team was in a tough spot, having to punt from your own 10 or so, but it was either arrogance or stupidity that lead you guys to give him a returnable punt. Your D was playing solid and odds are, had you kicked it high and forced a fair catch, the odds were decent that the most you would have given up was 3 pts. Since most fan bases in the SEC understand the nuances of the game, the "I can't believe you dumbasses punted to Joe Adams" smack is a pretty good dig, unfortunately it's lost on the likes of many KSU fans.
