Will your insurance does not cover the cost of repairs? If not and the repair cost is too high for you, you can use some other options. For example, if you are over 62 years old and the house is your property, you can learn about the reverse mortgage process and use their help to get money to repair your house. Thus, you will not need to spend your own money, and you will get enough money to make a complete repair of the roof of your house. It seems to be a very convenient and profitable offer.

We decided to stop looking in this market, because we're not complete psychopaths.

I wouldn’t expect it to come down much if at all. But at least the rate of increase appears to have stalled out.

Yeah I think I agree with one of the commenters to the tweet that the price drops might be more reflective of what people can afford based on the rising interest rates.

Inventory has always been my gripe.

As long as Investment funds are buying single family homes and taking them off the market forever it will be a low inventory game

we "lucked out" last year, ms tobias' sewer was pretty shallow and got like 100' new sewer line run from cleanout to (somehow) an existing pvc stub at the main tap and like 50' of galvanized water service replaced for like somewhere in the 5-6k range, assumed it'd be like triple that going in.  like someone had previously done all the expensive annoying work and left the easy bits

New driveway quote in April was 27k. They called me back last week to schedule it and told me it went up to 41k. Woof.

We talking just standard stuff or like a radiant heated stamped concrete fancy one?

Ya, I was picturing a fully-paved, windy, 1/2 mile drive lined with Italian Cypress.

Nothing has caused that.  Your contractor is just throwing you a number he can't say no to.

I work with concrete weekly and it has gone up $10/CY.  Labor is up a couple bucks an hour in the last year, but not since April.  Literally, nothing is causing this except that he doesn't want the job for $27k anymore.

I get the point, but labor shortage still counts as a cause.

If only we had a source of cheap labor that desperately wants to work and pay taxes in the US.
