There's no way we could possibly get this lucky, right?  I mean...the football gods have been so kind enough to us already this season, and now this?

New list:

1. Weis
2. Mystery candidate
3. Malzahn
4. Chryst

Is that list in order of your preference or what you perceive to be the school's preference? I think you're crazy if you would rather have Weis than Malzahn, though I would love to have Weiss in the Big 12.

With Malzahn you still have a certain amount of uncertainty.  He may well be some freakin genius and coach KU to impressive feats.  He may also just be a former HScoach with a gimicky offense that works well when you have a Cam Newton at the helm who will not find much success at KU.  Seems like Weis would be a solid hire but I don't see him having huge upside and he's likely to leave the second a better job comes along.  :dunno:

I'm confident you have your spin engine fired up and ready to prop up whatever dud hire will inevitably take over.

It's funny that your monumental snub with Leach wasn't enough to prove to you how much of an afterthought KU's football program is perceived by the best in the business. You know, the guys with the rolodex and the penchant for cheating. That's what it will take to get KU to a bowl. First things first though, winning a conference game.

I agree with this. If I'm KU, I go with the bigger risk/reward. If it doesn't work out, it's pretty much impossible for the program to be left in a worse state than it is now.

Malzahn would be an insanely good hire, imo.  I would think he would hold out for a better gig though.  I am working under the assumption that Chizik is a dumbass though and that Malzahn and Cam won them that title in spite of him.

You're nothing more than a coward who disappeared for about three years when K-State was dog sh*t under Ron Prince.  No one here respects you and no one values your opinion.  Get lost.

Malzahn went to Tulsa for two years (give or take) and made Todd Graham look like a genius.

Malzahn as a HC may or may not work, but he is a heck of an OC.  Could end up being like Mike Martz or something where he sucks as a HC but rocks as a coordinator.  You never know.  But he's a risk worth taking at KU without a doubt.

Weis can't be a long term guy.  That said, they should hire him now.

Malzahn would be an incredible hire for them. I'm not sure why you think he's spinning anything by pulling for Malzahn.

Would be a good long term shot.

However, with KU boosters demanding heads every 2 yrs, would he be quick enough?

Not even close to true.  I might take a break for a month or so every now and then, but I've never just disappeared for two/three years.  I don't tuck and run when times are tough.

I can't think Malzahn could be too long term either if he has great success.  I would imagine he sees SEC as the top competition and eventually heads back there.

One positive about him is that he seems to be willing to buy the Cam Newton's of the world(so jealous of this).  However, if he does, it would probably turn in to a quick step up to another school like you mentioned.

it could not get any better for us if they hire charlie weis.  If he couldn't get it done w/ all of the resources at Notre Dame it isn't going to magically happen in Lawrence.  His defenses were awful in South Bend as well.
Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.
