The last "football guy" got fired over nothing, the last good coach got fired because he was "mean" . . . why can't you figure this out, why are you so dense?   The previous good football coach to Mangino couldn't wait to get out of the place . . . why can't you ever seem to spot trends?

How do you pursue head coaching jobs?  Is Vic making cold calls or what is he doing?  I wanna know.

Two questions:

1.  Why does Beems keep referring to dax as 'Pad?  Is it because he saw dax with his new iPad, and Beems is so jealous he calls dax 'Pad as a twisted form of sour grapes?

2.  What does Beems mean by a good coach taking KU "back" to respectability?  Taking a team "back" to respectability implies that they were respectable to begin with.  Not KU.  Everyone who is everyone knows that 2007 was a perfect storm anomaly, otherwise the "History Awaits" campaign two years later wouldn't be so rough ridin' laughable.

Oh, and by the way, history awaited, alright until over the last two seasons when KU made it!

Yeah, if only we had kept Al Bohl around instead of getting Lew Perkins, then our program would really be rolling right now.  And if Glen Mason couldn't wait to get out of the place, why did he turn down the Georgia job?

1.  'Pad is short for "Daxipad."  I'll let you figure out the rest.

2.  If going to four different bowl games in seven years, including a 12-1 Orange Bowl season in '07, isn't respectable, then I don't know what is.  You seem awful butthurt, though.

Leach isn't a "player abuser."  Adam James is a little bitch with a helicopter parent.  Leach explains it in his book.

cool story, jim boeheim.

You're really going to compare putting a player in a utility shed to molesting children?  Really?

Whatever you say, JoePa (lol)

It takes some serious wit to make back-to-back Syracuse/Penn State jokes.

 :flush:

You're denying the abuse and defending the abuser, much like the 'Cuse and PSU scandals.  Seems natural that you'd defend a child molester, too.

The Adam James situation was a complete fabrication by ESPN and Texas Tech, and after hearing both sides, I tend to believe Leach's story.  You have the right to believe what you want, but when you compare it to what happened at Syracuse and Penn State, it really puts everything in perspective.

That's not the point concrete brain, the point is, when does it ever work out for ku football over the long haul?  The answer to this point: Never.   It's only happened once at K-State.   But this isn't about K-State, it's about ku.   Plus the only reason Mason turned down the Georgia job was because of some martial legal entanglements in Lawrence knucklehead.

Pepper Rogers-Probation-Fired

Bud Moore-Probation-Fired

Glen Mason-Couldn't wait to leave.

Al Bohl-Fired because he wasn't a basketball guy, he was a football guy.

Mark Mangino-Fired-Big Meanie, not the "right image".

It's always something . . . until that changes, the trend continues.

Okay, 'Pad.  So basically, you want me to give up hope, and concede that KU will never have long-term success in football.  Got it.

No don't give up hope. But accept the reality that there isn't any real reason to be optimistic. Success, like 2007, will be a real fluke.

That's not the point . . . as long as the ku basketball junta is allowed to run the show every little "image" issue with any football coach/football oriented AD will result in their ouster.  Meanwhile ku basketball will be allowed to do whatever it wants to do as long as its winning . . . the coach can be sleeping with every sorority chick on campus, it won't matter, the coach can put the program on probation . . . it won't matter . . . the coach can dress up in really bad disco outfits and make a fool of himself, everybody thinks its cute . . . in football, the coach is a big meanie and is fat . . . fired!!  The AD can talk about football more than basketball, build facilities oriented towards football (like a real weightroom) . . . fired by the basketball coach.

Get it yet?

Maybe conference Armageddon changed that . . . we'll see I guess.

I hear you, man.  Can't believe how quick it has gone by.  I wish now that he had somehow pulled out just a few more wins so that I could watch this train wreck for at least one more year.  Oh well.  At least we got to see one hell of a train wreck, though.

You think everyone who smells your crap and actually gags at the stench is "butthurt."  That's not being butthurt, son; that's just the natural human reaction to your presence on this board.

Butthurt is what happens on Phog any time someone implies that vampires that sparkle are gay.  Which reminds me ... I neglected to ask ... what was your favorite part of Breaking Dawn: Part 1?

Quit making personal attacks on Oregonhawk  I will mod you.   He is being pretty legit in this thread and ku's football team effects our dominant program.

Seriously, I want OH to stay and discuss so don't be dicks.

I am a bit concerned about Leach at ku, if it happens (which it really might because he is just damaged enough).  I was concerned about Gill.  He was a good hire - had the intangibles that I'd look for when trying to recover from MM.

Bottom line, coaching hires for major sports are bbs gold so don't run off the fans who are living it.

Beems, stay and post about this stuff.  It is legitimately fascinating and I am not just saying that because I'm drunk (had saints -7 so went out and watched).
