Also, you're a mouth breathing idiot if you think KU is going to hire another clown like Turner Gill.  KU is going to make a Bob Huggins type of hire with this next coach.  Book it.

glad you've learned from past mistakes and quit making guarantees. oh wait.

10- 6-5

Those numbers represent the win loss record of Illinois State's football team the last 4 years Zenger was there.  Not sure how this guy is get painted as the big time football guy with all these great connections.  All he has ever done is over see a middle of the road gateway team and middle of the road is pretty generous.  ISU pretty well sucks in ball too how did this guy ever get looked at as a BCS level AD?

The honest truth is that he's considered a big time football guy because he's associated with Snyder and Leavitt.  He's a K-State guy.

I know we're joking with Beems about that, but that really is where it comes from.

I think Snyder should pimp up Cosh as the next HC for KU like Stoops tried with Venables and KSU.  I think Cosh would be a good fit in Lawrence.

Calm down, guise.  You know our boy Zulu is going to convince the big money at KU that the next LHC Bill Snyder is...wait for it...SEAN SNYDER!!!  Double whammy for EMAW Zulu.  He helps his beloved alma mater and Sean "rebuilds" the program VERY slowly, but fast enough that donors are like "meh, whatever."  Sean proceeds to win 6 or 7 games most years and does just enough to barely hang on to his job for the next 20 years.

Cheyenne Zulu is an EMAW hero.  He knows what he needs to do.

if KU were to go out and grab a guy- some up and comer like the dude from N Illinois, then i think they'd be ok.

The ku detractors say "that UNI team actually lost to the guy we just axed after 2 years, owning him $6million"

Those detractors are not forward thinkers like Brother Sheehon.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to remind any hayseed posting in this thread that K-State hired a no name loser by the name of Ron Prince, and had to pay him millions of dollars to buy out his contract as well.  Glass houses, fellas.  Glass houses.

Our mistake also won a few conference games, including beating TX twice, and actually took us to a bowl game.

Still haven't heard a good reason why Mike Leach won't be the next head coach at KU (possibly this tuesday or wednesdy).  The only reason I would love to see it happen so Beems can come back to this thread and just destroy most of you.

Leach has been very open about wanting to get back and he has made it clear he will go pretty much anywhere.  The only thing stopping him from going to KU is someone better offering him the job.  Nobody has wanted anything to do with him to this point so I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he goes to KU.  Good fit imo.

Jobs are popping up all over the place, and they're all pretty good.  UCLA (will eventually open), Arizona State, North Carolina, etc.  Why jump at a KU job that will wait for you when you can test the waters and see if you can't put yourself in a more competitive situation like ASU or UCLA?

Can you imagine Leach at ASU with access to Phoenix talent and Cali QBs and wide receivers?  I mean, JFC, give the man a crystal ball yesterday.

new theory on zulu:  he fired gill, yes- this is not up for debate.  but, i wonder if he fired gill only so it would give him a chance to rehire him and firm up a commitment to the man of no less than an additional 10 year contract.

Yeah but didn't he also say that he wanted to go somewhere that had a tradition of winning and try to revive that tradition, or was that someone else I was thinking of.  If KU is truly the only school that wants him, I understand that, but I can't believe there's not other teams out there with interest.

Also, I would disagree on the "good fit" part.  They basically fired Mangino for the same reason...abusing players (even though we know the fat man was fired for not winning).  I just don't see BGL signing off on this...and I think it's pretty obvious that BGL hired Zulu because he would be a yes man.

ku fired a coach two years ago for being abusive to players and then now they are going to hire a coach that was fired for the same exact reason around the same exact time? it'd be like some game of musical abusive coaching chairs or something. maybe tech could then hire leavitt and south florida could hire mangino. i'm not saying ku shouldn't, but that's at least a good reason why it might not happen.

i haven't seen his name pop up anywhere except Wazzu.  There have been whispers about Ole Miss.  KU would provide Mike an opportunity that no other opening would.

Mike would be a great fit for KU.  My hope is that Zulu stays away from Venzy.

Hiring Leach is probably the smartest thing to do, but does it make a young, ambitious "football guy" look as brilliant as hiring the next Pinkle or Briles?

KU is the perfect job for Leach. Mike Leach much like our good friend Bob Huggins needs to be laundered.  KU is the perfect job to make Mike Leach non toxic.  If he won 6 games next year he would be treated as a conquering hero.  He can come in, recruit playing time immediately, put together enough talent on offense to outscore 6 opponents go to a bowl game and find his destination job.

I don't think it has anything whatsoever to do with Leach wanting one job over another at this point.  He just wants a job.

Serious ?: Does he represent himself, or does he have an agent (that he actually listens to)?

If so, I could easily see an agent going, "Whoa, whoa...Mike.  Let me talk to a couple of schools first before you go accepting an offer from a school that plays football in a track stadium."

I mean, it may not ultimately stop him from going to KU, but it may prevent the immediate hiring of Leach.

Also, and I don't want to sound all  :opcat: here, but does anyone think that KU won't follow the BCA hiring protocol with BGL at the helm?  Not  :opcat:, but a serious question.
