Football isn't a sport where you can just hire some Bob Huggins-like guy and automatically see a jump start in your program. When you're coming from the hole KU is in, you need to make the time investment necessary to see returns.
Butch Davis cheated like a mad man and only won eight games a year at a school with better facilities, better resources, better access to talent, and a weaker conference. If KU thinks that they can just go out and hire some "damaged goods" coach, dust him off, and win 7-9 games a year, they're not really in touch with reality.
