You've known since dropping me off at City Park at the end of MOAP1 that you were getting the Wrangler.

buying an SUV/Crossover.  current options are Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, Wrangler Sahara 4 door, Mercedes GLK, Audi Q5, other.  Anyone own any of these or have recommendations for other similar sized/priced options?  Anyone work at a dealership that wants to sell me one?

I'd get a Volkswagen Touareg, they look elite (better than the Q5 and less girlish).

This.

Mrs. Gooch is in the market for a new car too. Really want her to get on of these so i can drive the crap out of it.

really soured on Mini lately.  Too many issues with plastic parts being used as retaining wear parts in the valve/timing systems.

SD if you are thinking about a snow hauler you might but a AWD escape on the list too.

Where are you located and how long of a commute do you have?  Will the car be a DD or winter beater?

will be trading in a 2006 Nissan Altima 3.5SE with 60k miles and a huge door ding on the driver's side.  it drives nice and gets stuck in snow roughly twice a year.  anyone want to buy this blizzard coffin?

I'll donate $10k to BBBS for it.

is the jeep just a nostalgic thing and 4wd or are you planning on modding it for some off road use?

I don't know about newest jeeps post buy out but older jeeps had a rep for rust.

I would stay away from VW/Audi just for the random electrical issues that seem to always pop up with them.

BMW is souless mommy transporters, same with MB ML class

New Dodge Durangos have caught on fire, so built in heater for winter is a plus

I would think about a new Explorer.  The new body style is hot.  Maybe a Flex or edge.  unfortunately you can't get the ecoboost in 4wd, only fwd on the edge.  but for a good bit of coin you can get a flex with ecoboost engine and awd.  But at the price required I would rather have an explorer I think.

Subarus are nice cars but they are losing their souls.  Outbacks should not be small SUVs I would still kill and early 2000s with a quickness in LLB edition.  Foresters are huge pigs now.  I've thought about a WRX hatch for a next car.  manual/turbo/hatch for space would be great.  AWD for them is proven, especially if you aren't modding.

yeah, I can't even mod this message board let alone a car.  also, rust isn't going to be a concern as I'll sell it within 6 or 7 years.  the wrangler would probably just be for nostalgia I guess.

Get either one of the Jeep's.  I have a Grand Cherokee Limited.  I love it.  I wish I could get the one with the new body style.

Have 2 friends with the Jeeps. They hate them. It's a great ride when not in the shop. I would recommend a Forester. There's nothing better in the snow. It's also one of the better driving vehicles.

yes saul is on to something here, lease a yukon denali, hire a driver. With the economy so soft I'm sure a driver can be had for very cheap.

Casey-  what year is your wife's car?  Cause if it's prior to '11, it's a completely different vehicle from the ground up.
