If I didn't show up for even like 10 minutes I would be in major troubs.

I was an hour late today. I'm going to leave an hour early today. Nothing will be said about it.

Last week my new boss complained about me coming in late and leaving early.  I defended the practice by stating that even if I were here 12 hours a day I wouldn't get done what she expects me to get done.  She did not refute that.

To me.  We were arguing over her style of management.

oh.  if she just complained in retaliation for you complaining about something she does then that's fine.

Ya I'm not going to alter anything.  I couldn't even if I wanted to anyway.

Have any of you experienced your best friend at work/colleague who does what you do, getting promoted to manager? We canned our other one two weeks ago and now my boy is going to move into that roll. We also fired our other person in our position today, so now i'm on a lonely island of recruiting for 4 regions until we hire some more doctor recruiters. My life is over for the next few months. Yikes!

Ideally

new job, or new location (Denver?)

honestly, if I was a full time estimator I'd be bored to death.   You thinking PM?

how many days do you think chum1 could miss before it was a problem?  like 20?

Do I call in? What reason do I give and when do I give it?

I could maybe go two weeks and not get fired without even responding to work email. It would be noticed pretty much right away, I'd get lectured over it, but I'd survive with a whopper of an excuse. The thing that makes it tough is that the CFO will have a problem with paying for someone who is not there.

I feel for you that must be in the office daily. I'd lose my mind. Manager told me and day he didn't care if I was on the beach as long as the phone was answered.

Starting to dabble in this.  Went home at 2 yesterday unannounced.  No one has said anything yet.

What kind of jobs do you people have that you can just not show up at work?

They're really trying hard to fanning brag about how much these lazy POS can get away with at work. It's really bizarre.

We recently let a person go because they lied on their weekly report. I mean it was a bunch of other stuff, but this was the final nail in the coffin. They don't micromanage us here, but don't give false reports. For example: saying you made over a 100 calls in a week, when your phone is accessible and it says you only made 6 and half of those numbers are area numbers.

Really it's about how efficient we are (at least me) with our time.  Had I stayed longer yesterday I'm not sure what I could have accomplished.

I guess I've had more PTO to know what to do with in this last year, so I feel guilty when i'm not producing on the clock. I also have a very front heavy position, so that's also where the guilt can kick in being gone too long.

I have crap PTO.  It sucks.  I can't wait to get out of here for that reason alone.

I'm in a sales support role. The bulk of my time is on the phone or quoting special projects. I don't need to be in an office to do my job and my manager doesn't expect it.

I do meet with clients on targeted sales calls a few times s week. So the majority of my time is spent  in my three state territory. Excursions to the beach or mountains are not the norm but it does happen.
