First day on the new job was super great. Who knew that the further up the ladder you go the easier it is?

it makes sense, doesn't it?  i mean, i don't know what your first job was but mine was at Taco Via and it rough ridin' sucked.  you think your boss is gonna send you home early so you can hit the golf course while he knocks out the "tough stuff" ?

come on, son.  use your damn noodle.

This is almost always true.

My first job was working for a pool company.  I was 15 and made minimum wage.  One day I had to fish a bunch of dead crap (possums, racoons, etc) out of a dilapidated and decrepit pool, cut up the liner and haul it out on my back with all the gross water running down my body.  I didn't last much longer after that.

Concrete.  It was brutal, but I made an absolute shitload of money compared to all the other kids I new, and all of the unskilled labor parents I knew too.  In retrospect, I wish it wasn't something that influenced me so much.

sounds like a typical saturday helping my dad with side jobs so that my mom could buy this season's eddie bauer lineup.

Dairy Farm. Our families. I did everything already mentioned here. Didn't get paid. It sucked at the time, but it was a pretty great way to grow up.

I was thinking that dairy farmers probably get an increased sense of good feelings or whatever from their jobs, more than row crop farmers or beef cattle folks.  What say you dobbs?

Yes, before freshman year I was bringing home 275 a week @ 40 hours and I would put 200 in the bank and keep 75 for the week and it seemed like I had more money than I could even think of spending. What a great summer

:dunno:

That was one of the reasons I went home every summer in college.  Wages in Manhattan were a joke comparatively.  In 1997 I was making $12 cash in KC as second in charge of the crew.  In Manhattan, I couldn't make that running a crew.

I would go to a professional or a family member who you look up to and view there's. A lot of the stuff I had to send out was audio, so that's different, but if I was going straight out of business school or something else, I'd totally do this.

I worked 55+ hours a week at the beef research making $7.25 base pay + OT my summer after freshman year.  Was amazing.

I think I'll be okay making my own, but then I have a buddy who's dad is a lawyer and he said he could look over it for me and make it sound/look better I'm sure. Thanks!

We had row crops and some beef cattle as well. Row crop was pretty great because you plant these little seeds and then, BOOM! you harvest them and somebody pays you for producing that! Plus, the thought of my family owning a bunch of ground was pretty great for some reason. We had some cows that were worth a bunch of money, but the value of my family owning the cows didn't equate to the value of owning the land.

Also....THE SMELL OF MONEY!!!!!! (cow poop and alfalfa were the best...not at the same time, but both are a great smell!)
