I've received a few messages via LinkedIn from competitors wanting to "chat"/"connect" lately. I know it doesn't hurt to listen to what they have to say, but i'm in no position to want to jump ship. Pro tips on what to say to these ppl?

Are these people doing the same job as you or recruiters trying to recruit you? (You are a recruiter, but you don't recruit recruiters, right?)

Anyways, I always have a bunch of recruiters trying to connect with me on LinkedIn and I am not sure whether to accept them or not.

I typically don't, but most of them are people looking for IT project managers, and don't seem to be able to read my profile and discern I'm not an IT PM.    It's laughable.

in my field if you accept all of these requests from recruiters, they will badger you to go to lunch or stop by your office to introduce themselves until you agree to, which is a big pita for me, I don't got time for that stuff telling you about my job and background for an hour.  when you're ready to look for a different job, these people will still be there and they won't care that you gave them the cold shoulder because they'll still want your commission.

Yeah, this guy seems to have an identical situation as mine, but for one of our main competitors. "Director of doctor relations".

Direct competition can get mumped.  I mean, if you are setting records for docs recruited, you don't need his losery advice anyway.

Also what I was thinking. But i'm also not naive enough to think I hit a hot streak and maybe I might need some good tips for down the road, but not from him.

Legally, meeting with your competition to talk strategy would be a bad idea.

Here are my thoughts.  Head hunters are generally very trustworthy human beings so what do u have to lose?  I say go for it.

I agree. The livelihood of a head hunter depends on that.
