I have fished a eff ton this summer, and like so many things in my life, I obsess about it. My teenage son loves it, so I have even more reason to do it. It’s awesome at this age because he takes the boat out by himself and cleans his own fish and runs his own show. The days of rough ridin' with the kids’ lures is behind me.
The pontoon (“The Blue Light Special”) has been a gateway drug. My son and I are getting a 98 Lund Pro V SE 1660 to add to our fleet. It’s a beauty. Hardly used, and gorgeous. Moving all of the pontoon’s electronics over to the Lund. The pontoon is going to become exclusively a pleasure craft. The Lund is going to allow us to more easily go try other lakes.
I also did something else I swore I’d never do….I bought a really expensive St. Croix fishing rod. It’s great, but could easily do almost as well with a cheap rod. It’s just way more sensitive, and I look very cool with it.
