Getting tested at the resort to come back to US tomorrow and saw a woman get told she is positive and her trip is now extended 10 days. Kinda freaky to watch. Luckily passed. My first ever COVID test!

Nightmare situation. I’m currently in Disney World with the fam and brought 4 rapid Covid tests with me just in case.

The natural history museum (Smithsonian) is pretty dope.

You have to set it up through your congressman's office but the white house tour was worth it imo

Big fan of the National Gallery of Art. I also enjoy the Botanic Garden.

If you can do the air and space museum at Dulles, it's also great. I enjoyed the American History Museum, too. Really all the Smithsonians are probably worth your time

not to make too much out of this, but needing to be tested was a not-completely-trivial source of time loss and stress.  all in all, i would say that i was surprised at how much covid-related friction was layered into the travel experience.  oh, and i think saw/heard like five or six people being kept off flights while in the airport or on a plane.  like, it was not an uncommon thing!  at least to observe.

that said, still kind of a good time to be traveling.  lack of crowds and what not.  our transatlantic flights were pretty empty.

It does add a lot of stress and this place even lets you stay free if you test positive. Want to go to Portugal this fall and freaks me out a bit. Not sure what their rules for isolation if you test positive.

The verifly app process is pretty slick i have to say. See how well it all works at the airport tomorrow

Why do you have to test there at all?

You don’t. I’m not sure Covid GAF if you test or not though.

I just don't understand in what situation Disney is telling a us citizen you tested positive and now must stay for free.

I'm guessing it's a courtesy if someone's trip needs to be extended because of a positive test. Hey, this guest had a fever and tested positive for covid, we'll let them stay for free for a few days rather than sending them to a busy airport and putting them on a plane.

It is! It was such a surprise when I, a farm boy raised in Kansas on nothing but wheat, wheat meal, wheat bread, and sunflowers travelled to Detroit for the first time, expecting gang fights and urban blight in the terminal, only to find a utopian bliss of trams and efficient movement of people.

That airport got me some pretty healthy expense reports the past few months. I do enjoy it.

Pro tip there: If security is ever busy there, go through the hotel to the left, and they have a secret security line out of the hotel. Works every time! :gocho:

I just visited Detroit during the 4-5 month stretch that it is nice to be there and almost got fooled again in to wanting to move there.  It is pretty great in season but no shot I would do winter there.

Detroit is the most fascinating city
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Drove to Clearwater Beach this week (Tampa for the geographically challenged). Penultimate family trip was perfect weather. I doubt I'll ever go to a different beach but I'll be flying for future trips. I'm done burning 12-14 hours each way.

Asheville is sweet.  We saw multiple bears.
