Was back in LA last week/weekend. Attended the Dodgers/Cardinals game. That stadium is in the middle of a neighborhood, and you're like, ok we took a wrong turn, there is no way this is---oh there it is. Walk-off walk to end the game

Also going out in Hollywood  :sdeek:
It's like a middle school mixer with everybody making out everywhere.  :D

There might be more than one way to get in there, but I came from the northeast entrance, which you have to drive through a 25 mph neighborhood street or two to get to.

I think they are alot of stadiums that can make you feel like they are in a strange location depending on how you enter. Take Arrowhead, if you come off of Manchester, you drive under that little old two lane train bridge and round the corner and you're like, "oh holy crap, there it is!"
When I went to the Rose Bowl a couple of years ago, we first went in the morning and had a brunch at the restaurant. The guy that was driving grew up there and we went in the back way through the neighborhood. However, when we drove up for the game, I seem to recall being able to see the stadium from further away.

When I went to Dodger Stadium about 10 or 11 years ago, I was pakn and took a cab with a buddy of mine. I have no idea what it looked like or what the drive up was about.

Neat, I'll find a place to stay in Manhattan.  That way we can get all the times square out of her on the first day.

fly into LaGuardia
Thank you, PC.  I will take your advice and do exactly that.

fly into whichever one of Laguardia, Newark or JFK has the better flight.  It's all the same other than the view from the cab or if you have a long layover.  post the hotel you are thinking of staying at and I will review it based on various factors.

LaGuardia is a $20 cab ride to most of Manhattan, very close, however no subway access. You can take the subway from JFK to Manhattan. Newark is lol, no, don't do that.

I took the bus from La Guardia to a subway stop in Queens to get to Manhattan once. I would do it again.

There is no reason you can't bring a weekend's worth of luggage on the subway.  :dunno:

doesn't take considerably longer to get to midtown though in my experience.  Cab fare is about double though (which is usually inconsequential if dealing with differing flight prices/times which will normally have much more variance)

Once had a NYer approach me in the cab line about splitting a gypsy cab for half the price.  We both piled in and the gypsy cab guy said he would take both of us to midtown for $20 each.  We came to a stop in traffic and the other guy just bailed out leaving me with the unregulated cab driver guy.  was hilarious.  he didn't try to make me pay the other guy's faire though.  was obviously spitting mad.  I tipped him $10 because I felt bad for him.

sd's cab ride threads are usually pretty good, this one didn't disappoint.  ivan drago episode still holds the lead as best ever.

Wife and I are headed to Ireland for a week, this September. With that amount of time, I've found most travel sites suggest to travel the southern/western part of Ireland with a rental car. This will give you a good introduction to the island with a variety of scenery and towns. My tentative schedule is to spend 2 nights in Dublin, 1 night in Kilkenny, 1 night in Kenmare, 1 night in Ballyvaughan, and 1 night in Shannon, in that order.

We're flying into Manchester (UK) on Friday (Sept 7th) for a friends wedding that weekend, but then taking a ferry to Dublin on Monday, then going from there. Flying back to the states from Shannon, on the west side of Ireland on Sunday.

There are a shitload of B&B's at all of these towns, most less than $100/night and nice choices (it seems). We'd like to stay in a castle one night, but most are 5* and cost more than $1,000/night, or only have weekly rates. We'd maybe spend up to $300 for a night in a castle, but it would have to be really sweet. There are tons of things to stop and see along the way between all towns; castles, caves, cliffs, parks, etc.

Anyone been to this area that could provide some guidance? Things to do and places to see in Dublin? B&B's to stay/avoid at any of these towns? Castles to see or possibly stay at? Other scenery along the way to see/avoid? Pubs to drink at, restuarants to go to, etc? We'd like to get as much as the local feel as possible and we both enjoy drinking heavily.

Any help would be appreciated. My research has been overwhelming so far.

If you want the west coast, why are you ignoring Galway? Galway is great. Also obviously the cliffs of Moher.
