raclette looks incredible but tastes gross to me. I’m definitely in the minority but I want it to taste like ccq I guess.

I think you're in the majority.  If it were good to the average person, it would be all over fat america.

Haaaave you met fondue?
I have, and it's rarely raclette.

Well perhaps my personal experiences are biasing me. I've got multiple close friends in Zurich, so maybe that makes me appreciate it more. But I've gone skiing while staying in Zurich and gone to an Alpen wedding while staying in Zurich, and it didn't seem that far to the mountains. On the other hand, I've spent weeks at the Beau Rivage in Lausanne, but my appreciation may have been skewed downward because it was for work.  :dunno:

I don't mean to discourage anyone. You can't go wrong in Switzerland. And yes, it's about a 1.5 hour train ride to the Alps.

Austin is a really impressive place, I’ve never been here before.
I love it.  Used to go there for work every couple weeks. Pretty pricey to live there comfortably tho.

i would love to live here. spent the morning kayaking around lady bird lake and this afternoon walking through the shops in SoCo.
Traffic sucks but it’s a fun city. Depending on traffic it’s like an hour and a half from me
you know where traffic doesn’t suck?  kansas city, and I wonder why.

mean
i’m not shy sharing my feelings about kansas city. it’s perfectly insipid.  but kc is where my life has led me and in some ways it’s become my purgatory.

I feel this deeply. Hence my frequency in this thread.

YES!  rafael cruz at AUS.

i hate him but he was very cordial with the people that recognized him and asked to shake his hand or for a picture.  he came out of the jetway and i recognized him immediately.

it was good to see him though as it brought humanity back into the fold, for me anyway.

among my many comments to mrs clams about lying ted, I wondered out loud if he was returning to austin from a cooler climate, such as CANADA!

I saw Senator Moran the other day. Considered wishing that every night his dreams are soaked in the blood of children killed by weapons systems he has voted for until he can no longer sleep.

Then thought about instead asking him which was more important to him:
making sure children in the united states are not able to eat a free lunch at school
or
ensuring that children in other countries are not able to eat at all

Decided I want to do some more workshopping and consultation before I attempt to put a curse on him.

This is page 666 of this thread. I bet it explains the devil magic of Spracne knowing to ask the US Senator question, and probably has something to do with KK being too big of a wuss to confront Jerry Moran.

I'm super into magic, astrology, tarot cards, numerology, etc. But I also had an intuition that someone flipped the bird at a U.S. Senator today.

You guys, the Swiss Travel Pass.

Also, I find it is vey satisfying to use coins of larger denominations on the regular. I suppose these are way more expensive to produce compared with $1 and $5 notes? On the other hand, they last for decades in circulation.

Yes, that pass is fantastic.  Hop on any train, bus, boat you want. Even some funiculars and cable cars.  And of course everything is exactly on time every time.

We were there pre-Covid.  It seemed cash was preferred over cards then.  Still the case?

I tapped pretty much everywhere. I used only 190CF in actual cash during 8 days.

So long as you have a decent card, there's really no reason NOT to tap.

yeah, it's nice to be able to pull out some heavy metal discs and exchange them for something moderately valuable.  very tactile and satisfying.

When I'm using Euros the cashiers usually get annoyed with me trying to figure out what denominations everything is and just dig out of my hand what they need.

Right front pocket. I love carrying around change. I really enjoy using it. Like when something costs $15.81, I give the cashier $20.81 and get a nice $5 bill back instead of a messy $4.19. My kids find it disturbing but I like it.

when i'm buying something, it's usually a single-purpose trip.  i don't normally carry cash.  my wife keeps change in a little purse-type thing with a zipper.

I’m left front pocket. It’s so much easier in Europe getting something at stand on the street/train station with coins than trying to unfold bills.
