commercials like that really bring out the white midwesterns.

a friend on facebook who lives here but is from the east coast posted something about how he doesn't know who paul harvey is and why should he care.  he might as well have said that he loved hitler, because OMG the outrage that he didn't know who paul harvey was.

Here is what I heard in that commercial "farmers play with animals, ride around in an air conditioned tractor with satelite radio, and stop working for an hour to put a splint on a bird's leg, however we get up early so we're special."

That commercial was super long and boring. D scott loved the crap out it. He started live tweeting while watching old Landon lectures.

Of course he did.

Of course they do, and when he has a terrible game they'll start a "don't blame this on Will" thread.

My facebook blew up with the dodge commercial when i checked it this morning. There is no more self congratulatory group on earth than farmers, with teachers coming in a close second.

it wasn't the actual farmers that were posting on facebook, it was the daughters of the farmers, and grandkids.

if someone made a gun control ad that featured paul harvey validating pos farmers, then all guns would be outlawed today.  they eat that crap up hard.

Actual farmers don't have FB (unless they're like those weird trust fund amateur farmers, in which case everything they post is farm this and baby goat that).

I don't think military people are self congratulatory. It just seems like it because so many people are always saying "thank you for your service" in an attempt to look more patriotic than everyone else.  My dad quit wearing his Navy hat because he got tired of strangers approaching him and thanking him. He says he only enlisted to get off the farm and out of Kansas.

I would put doctors right behind farmers. Teachers are a distant 3rd.

Oh man. That post would put all of GPC in a tizzy.

And can confirm that teachers are v. self congratulatory.

sorry nk but that's just ridiculously wrong. doctors are not at all self congratulatory at all. i mean maybe when they are with other doctors they might be some, but that's it.

Small sample size, but they rank right up there with lawyers are far as complaining about student loans.

IMHO part-time receptionists with a kid or two take the effing cake as far as congratulating themselves

Lots of congratulations to the future single moms in the fanning thread, too.
