Didn't Lavin get caught cheating like crazy or something leading to his firing?
Funny how people haven't learned from oscar's performance this year that proven, veteran coaches are the best way to go.
UCLA hired New Mexico coach Steve Alford on Saturday to replace Ben Howland, ending a process that had rapidly changed direction several times over the past few days."It's been a difficult morning to tell a team that I dearly love and a team and built last six years," Alford said in a Saturday afternoon news conference in Albuquerque.

I kinda think Greg Marshall is crazy enough to stay at Wichita State until he flames out and gets fired.

I'm guessing he, Smart and Stevens pretty come up for every opening. They'll probably only get picked off by the real blue bloods or Texas.

If I were a UCLA fan I would be disappointed with Alford. However, if I were a UCLA fan I'd be furious with the administration for their squandering of a great program.

This is the kind of thing that could get them bumped into the Big East if they expand to higher numbers.
As a K-State fan, I would have been disappointed with Alford. I don't think he's any better than oscar, personally, and if he is, the difference is marginal at best.

Big surprise here folks, Jason King thinks Alford was the perfect fit for small time UCLAhttp://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/9115258/steve-alford-well-right-fit-ucla-bruins-new-head-coach-ncaa-men-college-basketball
Stevens and Smart would seem out of place amid the bright lights of Los Angeles. They're not Hollywood enough.
