Just to put it on the record now.  I've always been concerned about a Frank to UConn scenario.

Just read the Meek blog, huh?  'grats!

lol.  no reason to expect you to believe me, but i've been talking about that since calhoun looked like he wouldn't live to 2011.

I don't doubt that NCSU could scratch up that kind of dough but I can't imagine them bringing in a coach worth that type of money.  Sure they have rich ass boosters but that doesn't mean those guys are going to give a Shaka Smart 3 per.   Hell, paying Frank 3 per would be stupid.

They're desperate now . . . but giving Frank $3 million would be dumb as hell.

the free market seems to be pretty unanimous in its decision that dealing with yow is worth about an extra million/year.

It all depends on what the alternative is.  How much MU pay Anderson so they don't end up with Haith? (assuming they could out bid Ark)

How much would you pay Frank to avoid HC Underwood?

Yeah, could mean that no one that will be willing to come there will be able to demand a salary that they can't reach.  See Capel.

The thing is, you actually have to make a lot of dumb moves and not be really smart to have a shitty program at NC State, at minimum an NC State should be an NCAA tourney obvious choice every year.   But they can't seem to get out of their own way.

Frank is probably just giddy with anticipation for that phone to ring and hear South Beach on the other line.

Could be standard coach speak, or... without an AD... he might not have heard anything.

Haith is going to fail hard.

Quote
COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Two Missouri starters have declared for the NBA draft on the same day the school is expected to approve a contract to hire Miami's Frank Haith as its new men's basketball coach.

Juniors Kim English and Laurence Bowers announced Monday that they plan to pursue pro careers but have not hired agents. That means they can return to school if their NBA plans don't work out.

The announcement comes as Missouri curators prepare to meet Monday night in a closed meeting. A person with knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press late Sunday that Haith is headed to Columbia after seven seasons in south Florida.

Hearing that Alabama coach Anthony Grant would be popular choice at Miami but school isn't likely to exceed his current salary in SEC-conf.

Sources say possible candidates for Miami include Jeff Capel, FAU's Mike Jarvis, UCF's Donnie Jones, Bobby Gonzalez, + FIU's Isiah Thomas

now i'm more confused than ever

no offense but this confuses you because you seem to be quite dumb about this.  The Miami job sucks any of those guys on those lists would be good hires for Miami.  DePaul is a better job.  Frank Martin is the only proven top tier coach that they would have a shot at even considering, and obviously that consideration has nothing to do with basketball.  Basketball wise Miami has no positive advantage over any other BCS school, none.  It's an absolute basketball wasteland.

Same reason why people dismissing Frank Haith because of his record are equally dumb.

If he does go that likely means Kentucky will be on probation next year, and per usual, Cal beats the boys from Indy out of town by a hair.
