The Rodney Terry thing is fascinating to me.  I kind of hope he makes a huge run in the tourney and then takes another job and UT gets spurned by everyone until they get to like a Steve Forbes level candidate.

He has a decently long head coaching resume that is pretty mediocre but I bet he stays regardless of tourney results.

Why do you think UT would be spurned if he left though?

Read a national article on on3 that they want Drew and Sampson and both are likely to say no.  Some of it is just me hoping for a dumpster fire for UT on the way out.

there's a pretty big gap between Drew and Sampson and Steve Forbes.

just off the top of my head, I could see Calipari doing a career reset with them.

Nate Oats would be another that would probably be a target but he probably will back the money truck up to Bama.

My dream scenario is that Self decides to quit to enjoy and extend life, TX publicly states that they will be looking to hire outside the current staff, then KU snipes TX’s pick and TX gets someone they didn’t want.

That would warm my heart.

The multi-discipline and multi-institutional study of the professional/collegiate sports hiring/firing explanation and rationalization process would require an endless supply of money and have people who start the process, but never live to see it finished involved.

Was his fiance at the presser?

I'm not exactly sure who those women are, one kind of looks like his fiance.

Appears TTech is going to hire MaCasland, the North Texas guy from the Drew tree and boring offense we passed on last year. Word is they called Tang, who told them eff off in his Christian way. Also called Bennett from St. Marys, who also said no effing way I'm going to that godforsaken west Texas wasteland (to be fair he has apparently said no to a number for mid-level PAC schools).
In other news, Wichita State is said to have offered Miles of Oral Roberts, another former Drew assistant and frankly a more exciting hire than MaCasoand IMO.

I guess it's Mills not Miles at WSU. North Texas is showcasing its boring ass offense, defense first game against the Poke tonight in the NIT. 55 all at the end of regulation in a true eyesore game.

Compare that to the Bill Self coaching tree of failures Danny Manning and Tim Jankovich.

When you look at it in this context, a second round exit under Norm Roberts should have been expected. And how overworked is ol weak-ticker Bill with all these mediocre assistants?

and Barry Hinson
and Doc Sadler (kinda/sorta from Self coaching tree)

For a hall of famer with 30 years of head coaching experience, it's a quite underwhelming coaching tree.

A lot of dudes with limited success but haven't been able to hold jobs, most notably Tom Crean, Stan Heath, and Brian Gregory.
