I couldn't handle living here in Wichita with another lead up to that game. Would be beyond unbearable again.

Just living in Wichita in general seems like it would be unbearable.
That bbq tho!

Win our remaining home games (OU, Bay, Tex, KU, and TCU) and somehow manage to win just one away game most likely against OSU, TCU, or Tech.... Then we are in!!!!

The NIT is a pipe dream. We are going to finish the season with a losing record.

we did this last year... try to think of unlikely scenarios in which we make it to the tournament, all while we continue to lose every single road game.

oscar is going to win a game or two that he has no business winning, it happens
not saying that the ku game in lawrence is going to be one of those wins, but we should all expect it to happen at some point each season

Yes, this is what oscar does. I mean, this team isn't bad (when I think of bad, I think Mizzou).

Also, because of the 11-2 OOC, I think there is a very good shot of the NIT for this team. I think we'll finish 17-14 (6-12) at worst.

We'll see how this year finishes, but oscar generally has many more quality wins (Top 50). Each of his first 3 seasons, oscar had at least 7 top 50 kenpom wins and at least 3 vs the Top 25. Wooly never had more than 3 Top 50 kenpom wins in any season and had a total of 2 Top 25 wins his last 5 seasons.

Comparing bad losses has been somewhat similar, but Wooly was still worse. Wooly had seasons with only 2 bad losses (rated 100 or worse kenpom), but also multiple seasons with 4 and his last season had 7. oscar had 3 bad losses last year and 2 the year before.

oscar is frustrating and last year was terrible, but he's not even close to being as bad as Wooly. This year has been weird so far because oscar has no top 50 wins (best win kenpom 56 Tech), but no bad losses either (worst loss kenpom 29 Baylor), which is really the definition of mediocre.

on one hand, i think we'll be pretty good next year but i know oscar struggles with player development and i temper my expectation.
even taking that into account i think we'll be better

I agree, but I've got to see some roster stability in the off season (anyone leaving besides Freeman will be a concern) to go along with your concern about development. Losing Edwards and Hurt won't be huge and oscar is adding a pretty good player in Xavier Sneed. Plus Williams/Maurice.

If next season isn't a tournament team oscar should be done.

I give oscar very little credit for the first year here.  I picture him of just now settling into a Wooly like groove which involves bringing in young players and hoping fans mistake minutes/opportunity for quality.

That's fair. FWIW, even his last 6 years at Illinois, he averaged 5 Top 50 wins and 1.5 worse than 100 losses.

He's way more annoying, but his coaching record is much, much better than Wooly. Its not even close really, even with "his own" teams.

Edwards was leading most of our stat categories up until conf season started.  I am not a fan, but this team would be much worse off, record wise, without him.

Oh, this team, most definitely. At one point I thought he could be an all league player, but he's not and his role/importance has become reduced as the season progresses. If he had truly lived up to being all league, we'd be a bubble team right now.
