Mich St was a 1 seed in 2000 with 7 losses.  That is the last time (and maybe only time)

With Cuse loss tonight.  I think KU/Wisc are the best 2 candidates to be the 1 seed Cuse just gave up.   Some peeps also like Duke... but here is why I would say no right now=

KU = 7 losses, 12 wins vs top 50, RPI 3, SOS 1
Wis= 5 losses,  8 wins vs top 50, RPI 5, SOS 2
Duke=6 losses, 5 wins vs top 50, RPI 8, SOS 9

What about 8 or 9 losses?

To my knowledge..... 7 is the most.   And  I think 2000 is only year 7 losses got one

2001 Illinois had 7 losses
2012 Michigan State had 7 losses (Mizzou fans were pissed with only 4 losses, as a result they really took it out on Norfolk)

What seed did the 9 loss teams in their conferences "earn"?

Have you watched Syracuse this year?  Yeah, they're good, but not a team I'm terrified of playing.

So Iowa State has 1 more conference road win than us and is being projected as a 3 seed.  Is there that big of a difference between 2-7 and 3-6?

They are benefiting for going undefeated in the OOC with 2 really good wins. And they should.

The win @BYU was big for them.

However, I'd much rather have a win over the #2 RPI team* at home than a road win at BYU or OSU.

*Even though 6 other teams also boast this win and it is kind of watered down.

IMO if the three of these teams win out Wisc is the most deserving of a 1 seed.

People putting us at a 10 is not unusual though, but most have us as 8 or 9.

I think you guys are greatly discounting the Northern Colorado and Charlotte losses. Whether Gip played or not a top 6 seed should beat both of those teams by 20. Stop even comparing our record to KU's. They have no bad losses, we have 2 glaring, gross losses.

Someone speak slowly and explain exactly why a 10 seed is functionally worse than an 8/9.  It seems to be better in nearly every way.

really depends on the two or one is. I firmly believe we have a better chance vs WSU than Wisconsin or Duke.

Everybody thinks we have a really great shot vs Witchita St and I have no clue why? I get that their schedule sucked, but they're really rough ridin' good. I think if this team wins one game in the tourney, the season was a success.
