Saw this gem on the bracketology page comments on ESPN

Quote
This is some real big 10 hatred, or maybe just blind A10 love. How can Dayton be in the next four out but Nebraska not even be in any consideration for the tourney? Both teams are .500 in their respective conferences, but I think the big 10 is a bit harder (SARCASM) to play in than the A10. I know Dayton got a couple nice non-con wins with Gonzaga and Cal on neutral courts, but Nebraska's played a similar level of non conference (they just lost their big games) and has wins @MSU and at home over OSU. I also know that margin of victory doesn't matter, but Nebraska lost at home to Michigan by a point, they need some credit for that too. Sure Nebraska lost to UAB and had a couple tough road losses to Purdue and Penn St in the big 10, but Dayton's got such losses as Rhode Island and (ouch) USC on their resume. There is no way the A10 deserves as many teams in the tourney as the big 10 and more in than the ACC.

Last year we won the Big 12 and were 27-7 and got a 6 seed.

This year we are not winning the Big 12, currently have 8 losses and will almost for sure have at least 10 by Selection Sunday...I'd say a 6 is out of the question and 7 is a long shot.  Get ready for an 8/9 with Florida or Syracuse waiting for us.  Don't think we're lucky enough to get that 8/9 in St Louis with the Shockers.

Yeah, that's what I thought. We played vs a play in winner.

 :bball:

Please don't post if you don't know what you are talking about.   Each year is different.

Last year, we did go 14-4 in the Big 12 and go 27-7 overall.  However, our only top 100 win in the non con was Florida.  Now that was a very good win, but this year we have 2 non con wins vs top 50 tourney teams Gonzaga and GW, plus a win over top 75 team Ole Miss

Last year, we were 6-7 vs top 50 rpi teams.  This year we are currently 6-4.     This year, we had 2 losses that are not good (No Col. and Charlotte)  Last year our non con losses were not bad losses.   This year the Big 12 is the #1 rated conference.  Last year it was 5th

In 2011, we were 21-10 and 10-6 in Big 12.  Lost to CU for the 3rd straight time in Big12 tourney.    We only had 3 top 50 wins (KU and at Texas were impressive wins).    And we got a 5 seed

So 14-4 with 6 top 50 wins, and we won 2 Big 12 tourney games =   that got us a 4 seed with 7 overall losses
10-6 with 3 top 50 wins, we won 0 Big 12 tourney games = that got us a 5 seed with 10 overall losses
Each year is a little different.   I will admit, I had us being a 3 seed last year and I thought we were probably gonna get a 6-7 seed in 2011

Each year's resume doesn't exist in a vacuum. What other teams are doing has quite a bit to do with it. There are major variables every year.

For example, in 2011 there were 6 at large teams with 13+ losses, one as high as an 8. Two of the other 5s also had double digit losses that year. In 2010 we had 7 losses just like we did last year and got a 2 seed.

A couple more really quality wins (ISU, @OU, @OSU, B12 Tourney) could easily bump us up to the 4 or 5 line.

Yep each year is a little different.   The reason we got a 2 seed with 7 losses in 2010 had a lot to do with our RPI was 6 and our SOS was 2, and The Big 12 was the #1 or #2 rated conference.  We also had some real nice wins in the non con that year.   Last year our conf record was actually better than the 11-5 we were in 2010, but  our RPI was 21 and our SOS was 58 and the Big 12 was the 5th rated conference by the RPI.

Getting a 4 or 5 seed is likely out of the question.   The teams on the 4 seed line right now have quite a bit better resume than us
I thought if we could go 12-6, win at least 1 game in the Big 12 tourney, that we might be able to get a 5 seed.  Doing all of that is gonna be tough.  Right now, I think it is such a longshot, I am not even considering us for a 5 seed anymore.  I would love to play well enough down the stretch to get a 6 seed

We're still on the safe side. Just win out at home and we'll have 1 more Top 25 win and maybe 2 more Top 50 wins.

We are currently 6-5 vs the Top 50 and 10-7 vs the Top 100. Last year we were 6-8 and 10-8 for comparison.

Probably a 9 seed if the tourney started today is what I assume.

Thanks _FAN. Good info. The halftime show of the UT/KU game hinted at our bubble possibility. I just wanted to hear from the likes of you and PP, and others who have a good mind about this stuff.

Are we on the bubble?

I think we will end up being around the bubble.  Automatic losses @ TT and OSU.   Then lose to ISU.  Muster a win against TCU.  Lose first game in conf tourney.

If that happens we will be on the bubble. I don't think it will.

I think we'll beat Baylor. Get one somewhere else. 10-8.

I was rough ridin' happy beating ku and UT. But that doesn't cover the stench of crap this team has laid the past week.  Nor does it mask the crap show at wvu.  This team has a ton of work left to do.  And it looks like a complete dumpster fire.
