Grass isn't growing under Currie's feet regarding the North Endzone

Vanier update in 2006 was "sub-optimized" so the FB organization and athletic department want to get it right this time. Still  very early in the design process but Currie has been known to move fast on projects like this. My guess is everyone on this board, including myself, will know what the selected design will look like within 4 to 6 months....give or take.

This is what I know.

Whoever said this needs to speak out to the people he heard this from, and let them know.. let them fuckin' know, we won't settle for something that blocks one of the most ridiculous settings in the history of the whole world of sports

The powercats are pretty big and clunky and purple.  I'll reserve judgement until I see them in person.  Luckily, without the trees I'll have a good unobstructed look.

it's like, when they put up the master plan, I was like, oh whatevs, they'll just build the WSC and it'll be 20 years before any of this other stuff gets done.  but now that these things are popping up...and I start to realize that those projects will actually happen...

starting on the south concourse blew me away, that was the thing i wanted most (well that and trees, and sight lines, and video boards) this project is moving extremely fast and that makes me happy

The purple powercats look cheap affixed to that beautiful limestone castle. Would have looked classier if they were carved out of the same limestone. Purple should have been saved for fabric, like flags and awnings.

It's a small gripe, but I would think they have professional designers who would have figured this out. Currie!

for the NEZ, they should get rid of the seats there and move them to each corner and bring vanier up closer to the field, similar to how folsom field is set up but w/o the seats between the facility and the field.

I think bill should rename it somehow.  This isn't just some wholesome family gathering spot full of family and friends and your neighbors and their kids' kids.  This is serious crap.

Fortunately, you won't see the seat backs when they're filled with well-fed, affluent EMAWs. 

On the powercats, I really hope those are backlit.  If not, it would have been cheaper and more attractive to just have fabricated limestone with powercats carved out.

After seeing a few pictures without them installed yet (link on the previous page), I did not see a back box, conduit, wires, etc.  So I don't think they are backlit.

Had the privilege of walking through the first two floors of the WSC today...

All I can say is Holy Cow! Extremely impressive. The first thing that slaps you when you walk in is that huge entrance arch. It's a big time feel as you walk through and see the field ahead opening up in a panoramic view. Then the next thing that struck me were the large arches on the inside facing the field. There are arches everywhere and big ones.

Really has a feel of power and strength. Hard to define but there's a very definite "feel" that is incorporated into it that makes it seem like this is place of significance. I was taken aback by it. Also the Cats Closet will be a great space. Nice size. On the second level I was surprised by the Training Table area. It has a ceiling that starts out perhaps 10' tall on the inside and then fans outward and upward toward the high glass window bank where the ceiling is about 30' high. Very dramatic feel with what looks like very intricate recessed lighting patterns on the ceiling. The bank of windows in there overlooking the field is awesome.

There are two levels of table seating in there. Reminds me of Royals Stadium Club. Would be awesome to eat and watch a game from there. Don't know who gets to do that. Not me I assume. Then walking south on the second level there are the most consessions stands I've ever seen. I think consessions run most of the length of the field. I assume that's what they are. Impressive. I didn't make it past the second level.

Also, they just put up about 10 large powercats on the front of the stadium where those large stone buttresses are. The locations for Legacy Bricks should all be readable from ground level. Lastly the balcony area on level two will be an awesome gathering space overlooking the parking area on the west.
