So I don't remember this being discussed yet but there seems to be a large amount of space under the club level seating.  What are thoughts of putting in open air suites (field box) along the top of the seating bowl like they have at Arrowhead?  See Field Box page. http://prod.static.chiefs.clubs.nfl.com/assets/docs/suites_brochure.pdf

if the Chiefs have it, no rough ridin' thanks

I'm with you. nothing screams elite like vinyl office chairs on metal bleachers

  Sounds like what a poor KU guy says about the seats he can't get.

Honest question, what's wrong with Vanier Complex?

It's a nice building until you start to compare it to others around the league and nationally. It's peaked and we're getting left behind in the facilities race. We can't do anything with it (expanding, large scoreboard, etc.) to catch up because the structure has already been renovated too much... I think?

Now, with the elite West Side Castle it seems so much more small-timey for our stadium. It's taking up space from possible seating expansion and keeping us from building a top notch facility to catch up with/pass other programs.

The last renovation to Vanier should not have happened. Logistically it's not that bad to get rid of what we have now. Ideally the indoor facility goes across Kimball, while the new Vanier is built on the east lawn and player/staff parking of the current facility. Connect the two with a skywalk. Tear down current complex and replace with better end zone seating and fan amenities and squeeze in a parking structure between new seating and new complex for staff/players

I don't agree that is the ideal plan.  I think we should enclose the north endzone with a combination of seats and the football facility.  See pic.

CyberTooth, it's possible Currie has something like that in mind in the long run.

I posted this awhile back, but he did get a tour of the new Arizona north end expansion recently. Stating, "It is always good to benchmark ourselves with our competition and get ideas for future phases of the LHC LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium Master Plan."

I don't think we should increase capacity beyond 2k seats.  Bowling off the endzone would probably add more than 2k, right?

Holy crap, what am I gonna do when the WSC is done and they take down those webcams?   I mean, we've had 2.5 plus solid years of glorious construction webcams between the BTF and WSC.

Come on Currie, get crackin on another major facilities project.   :dunno:

Saw Indiana's new north endzone in person a few years back, it is very nice, though their facility to me reminds me of Memorial Stadium @ KU, and Jack Trice everywhere else, and then beautiful in the north end zone. They did a good job at it, and from this wiki link it added about 3,400 seats http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memorial_Stadium_(Indiana). Would take, but I'd rather see something closer to Arizona's work for the north end zone and have an expanded Vanier and stuff behind that.Though, from this pic i took while at Indiana, they had a mini field for kids to play on, and while the pic doesn't do it much justice, but there were always tens if not hundred of kids on it (more filled it up as the game goes on and that photo i took pretty early in the second quarter) Would be pretty boss to have an area set up somewhere in the stadium for kids to burn of some steam while the parents can still watch the game. (though admittedly it will not be as close as Indiana's)

The Indiana thing is too many seats for the north endzone. Should shoot for smaller version of WSC looks awesome from kimball, half height bowl with lots of glass and a monster video board on the inside

i'm torn, putting the big screen in the north seems more logical, but it would ruin the view of the rolling hills to the north, while a big screen in the south would be a nail in the coffin of transforming fOOD into a more aesthetically pleasing fieldhouse

lol that will never happen. I'd prefer an expanded South side and monster video board than that anyways.

You can always do both, Scott.

It's not really an either or scenario.  Both serve different needs.

On the South, we just need to expand off of Bramlage with a large club space that replaces the Legends room, big party deck and some seating.  A large video board works fine on that end.

On the North, we need to raze Vanier and create a proper football offices administration and recruiting center on par with the majority of top level BCS programs.  AND we need to properly enclose the endzone to connect the East and West sides and we need to provide some proper seating with some real sight lines.

it really would be nice if we could do something on the southside that both football and bball could use. two birds, one party deck type of thing.

The Arizona expansion is absurd for either side, it adds way too many seats & too much premium seating. The Indiana expansion is perfect. It can be done without the upper deck and the capacity wouldn't change as the NEZ already holds what 1500-2000? If you wanted to add capacity you could put the upper deck on it and add another 15000-2000 seats.

Agreed, just make the NE and NW corners mirror the SE and SW corners of BSFS. Then have the middle section only have seating about halfway up with the football facility in top space similar to Indiana's castley structure. I think that would look pretty good and not add a whole mess of seating we couldn't fill.
