I thought we were putting those castley things at the top of the tower (see gallery page exterior renderings  link below).Is that not happening now? I kind of liked those. Either way it's a home run.

Me too, and the 2012 season provided us with so many highlights to add to that.  I'm really looking forward to seeing AB's pick six against Tech in next year's Proud of This House video.

That 2.7mil we dropped on the rowing hut could have gotten us a sweet limestone field wall.

And we should totally throw down some limestone pavers over the asphalt around the field for complete effect.

I dunno, I think we may still so those ramparty things up on top when they completely clad the towers in limestone.  They're not structural, so that's probably why we don't see any support structure for them.   :dunno:   

Wouldn't be a castle without those things.

The actual openings are crennelations. The overall top of each tower would be a battlement. The purpose of crennelations is to allow our defenders shelter whilst shooting arrows, slinging rocks, and/or pouring hot oil on the field. :gocho:
