Dax, when will we get the limestone rock wall?
Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

Dax, will there be a new video board?

Official release says yes, at some point in time . . . speculation says it's coming by next fall.    Same with a distributed sound system (crazy talk I know).

The rumor has been that the AD has been scheming money like it is no business and all not major structure parts of phase 3 are funded to the point were bids are being taken.

so...
  • North endzone video board
  • Ribbon boards
  • Distributed sound system

I've heard both video boards are getting redone. Ribbon boards are part of the WSC if I remember correctly. The Distributed sound system I honestly have heard little about.

If I remember correctly the current video boards date back to Princes 2nd year so they are actually quite old for video boards.

Dax has studied all official KSU releases and knows them backwards and forwards . . . discussing speculation and hearsay now.

Thanks

Trees, will there be trees?

Welp, the drawings show them.

Yes, but the fly through video didn't.

Fwiw, project confirmed behind schedule. Pretty sure we all knew this. Source A+.

This isn't exactly true, btw. Schedule included a "float", basically a buffer of extra days built into the schedule to account for unforeseen issues or weather. Those extra days have been used for various reasons, but the project is still on schedule. It is likely that extra float days will be created during periods of good weather where the project can get ahead of schedule.

Sound system for this Fall is unlikely. Nobody really knows how the stadium will be acoustically with the new structure and 50K fans in there. There will be lots of sound studies done during the first few games to monitor how sound is bouncing around in there, then they can start designing a sound system that works. Possible I guess that something is installed in-season, but more likely will be a '14 thing.

Wall, videoboard etc are being studied. Videoboard is higher priority. Haven't heard a go/no-go on that stuff for '13.

Probable that south concourse will have some work done on it for '13.

You sir are the best. Any clue on the Limestone wall? Is it part of the current construction going on or is still something being looked at in the future?

It seems to be the same radio silence as when I asked about the crappy metal bleachers a long time ago.  :bawl:

Wow, great update Crap!

Hopefully they really study the hell out of that limestone field wall.   Like a lot more than when they studied the wall 5 years ago, and then when they studied it again 2 years ago when the masterplan was completed.  It takes a lot of study to determine that the current crumbling piece of crap of an eyesore that makes our field look more bush league than most high schools needs to be addressed and architecturally tied into the rest of the improvements that are being made at the stadium.

they really should do some landscaping around that place. have blueville or someone donate some stuff and then call it blueville park at bsfs stadium or something and throw in some benches and a fountain or whatever. give them a free thirty sec ad before the game for the next five years or something. idk get creative. because the current random handful of trees on the north part of the stadium looks ridiculous as is.
