i'm pretty sure there is a basement over there with a formed concrete deck over it.  that would explain the difference in time for the north side.

The floor being poured shouldn't effect the columns, they're not anchoring moment frame columns to the floor. If they did botch anchor rods for the anchor rods then a simple drill and epoxy isn't going to work if they are transferring moment from the column to the footing.

I bet the ground work for the basement area was more difficult than originally planed putting that area slightly behind.

I believe the slab was completed before Currie made the announcement, but who knows.    And you're probably right - these loads are probably too large for epoxy anchors, but it's not impossible to epoxy moment frames.

i saw them pumping over there 2 weeks ago when i drove by, so i figured the deck was being poured then.   :dunno:  it's hard to see stuff from kimball, but i try to drive by a few times a week.

This thread really is a testament to our engineering, architecture, and construction science degrees.

Loads of cooks in the kitchen.

could be.    the webcams so shitty it's hard to tell, but I thought I had seen slab before the last home game.

that's the beauty of construction - we'd ALL do it better than they are (whoever they are and whatever they're doing)

can confirm they were doing a shitload of work on the north end for almost the entire time this project has been going on.  There was a 2 story carving of earth that has been filled in with some sort of structure which wasn't really completed until the last couple weeks.

Yeah.

Not getting the pee'ing contest from resident constructo/arch wannabe's.   The below grade/underground whatever you want to call it appeared to be a significant structure that was needed to support the training table and food service needs of a 250,000 square foot hospitality facility that could be serving thousands of people on game day, and providing 3 squares a day to hundreds of athletes nearly every day during the school year.    Not to mention having to support a massive super structure up above.

Going to have to start to question the comprehension skills of the posters involved as well as the overall quality of the Engineering/CS program at K-State based on what I am reading here.   Very disappointing.

What happened to the pics?  This thread has been very disappointing lately.

Dax we all know there is a lot going on down there. You know who else knows that? The people who made the schedule. And those people said they would have the main structure on the north side done by 12/1.

well either he was misinformed or a complete liar or something is delaying the construction.

my point is that they didnt start the construction and realize halfway through "oh crap you know what? there's a lot to do down here herp derp, we are going to need twice as long"

Its not going to take twice as long. With a excavation that large and that amount of subgrade prep being a couple of days off wouldn't surprise me. A Geotech has to be on site to do soil testing, just a little bit of rain can throw that off by a day. If that's off by a day then you're delayed a day to pour, and throws off another inspection. You were delayed on pouring and now you're concrete delivery schedule is pushed a little, so your concrete cylinder testing gets off by a little. All those things add up pretty fast. It's nothing to worry about though, they'll get caught up now that the are out of the ground. This situation is pretty run of the mill, I've done several projects with basement areas below a multistory structure.

Seriously, does anybody give two fucks that this project may or may not be delayed by a couple of weeks at this point?

It's construction.  It's always delayed.  Let's freak out next summer if this thing is 6 months behind schedule.  Even then I won't care, so long as we have a webcam tracking the limestone wall construction.
