i hope there's a way to build the limestone wall and not kstate0 it up with advertisements.

i doubt very much that our AD would give up the precious revenue those stupid redneck signs provide us, but i wish we could just keep it clean.

Just install a few elite looking LED boards within the North and South field walls to run advertisements.  Akin to the LED boards courtside in basketball games.  eff me, the advertisement revenue, alone, would pay for the wall.

TCU had this...very nice.

i think that would look like crapface.  and it seems dumb to build a beautiful limestone wall and cover it with ads for Vanderbilts and Conagra.

Cost too much money? We're spending 75 million on a 5 story building, yet a limestone wall 4ft high is "too expensive"?

Classic case of K-State0!
Yeah, and like surely they'll just do something like a 2" thick facade am I right? Seems like weight/footing/cost in the grand scheme of things wouldn't be all that outrageous.

I think no one in there right mind is asking for a solid limestone wall. A cinder lock wall with a limestone vernier would look very nice and not be kstateo

i am asking for that, completely in my right mind.

Solid limestone wall is stupid. Limestone wall with a covering that makes it look like a solid limestone wall would look good. Not talking about the flat pannels like on The DEV, but like what was used on the east side upper deck bathrooms.

just because you can't handle a solid limestone wall doesn't mean others can't.  sorry stormy, i'll let you vernier the living crap out of your man cave though.

Have no problem if it is solid. It would look great. But a vernier with the same look as look cost the 50% less and looks exactly the same.

I don't have tiemeto run the numbers, but I wouldn't be shocked if it cost $1MIL +.  Not insignificant.  You've got to remove what is there, cut out the asphalt & concrete, construct footings, build the wall, add the cap (and maybe a railing).   You also have to consider that this may also affect drainage.   Right now the water just runs off the bottom riser, now it will need to be collected and transported through the wall.  And the wall will need to be built in front of the existing railing so as not to encroach on the seating area, that may require modification of the existing drainage on the area surrounding the field.

In reality the think veneers are not that much less costly, and they have a lot more durability issues than 4" veneer.    I would expect that if done right, the wall would be a 4" veneer on both sides as is the wall along Bluemont, with or without a 4" CMU backup core.    They could very well just do 8" backup block with a 4" veneer though, and that would be cheaper.

As I said, by the time you do the footings, the wall, the cut stone cap, and possibly a metal rail along the top, the costs really add up considering it is going to be 1200' to 1300' long give or take.   Even if it was just a cast veneer stone (which we don't want) the veneer alone would be around $110k for one side 5' tall.

if limestone is too expensive, maybe we should just use dirt and paint it to look like limestone.  or use aluminum foil.  i mean, you guys are over here trying to rain on the limestone wall parade.  i don't even.

no one's saying we don't want it, just that it might take time to prioritize the funds.  It's not like deciding to add that wood privacy fence on your new house in the burbs.

1mil sounds like a deal to me.  It would really class it up in there.

If we are ripping out pavement anyways, just replace the pavement with limestone as well.

Maybe let folks buy a solid limestone brick and engrave their name in it. The bigger the donation, the bigger the brick. If Farrar donated a shitload of money they could have a big ass brick between KanEquip and Dan and Beth Bird from Anthony, KS.

Of course, dirt painted to look like limestone would be a huge improvement, as well.

How big a brick will, say, 100 bones get me? And can I hand carve my name in it with a nail?

Think of how much limestone we dug up to make the stadium originally. It's probably in Krause's old shed or something.

yeah

hey captain crap. are they gonna do the limestone wall for next season?

I've come to believe that a "limestone wall" at the BSFS for whatever reason has as much probability of ever happening as me inventing a fully functional time machine or K-State ever winning mythical National Championship.

Some things just aren't meant to be, and ever improving our high schoolesque crumbling concrete and plywood signed shithole of a field wall seen on every television broadcast seems to be one of those things.

People overstate the aesthetics or lack thereof of the signage in the SEZ.  No one on TV notices or cares about those metal, not plywood, signs.  If we do a limestone wall I hope they have led boards in them like UT has so that we can sell advertising in them to replace the admittedly small revenue generated by the SEZ advertising.

i doubt very much that our AD would give up the precious revenue those stupid redneck signs provide us, but i wish we could just keep it clean.

I hope they can move that stuff up to the video/ribbon boards.

That isn't moving anything, the ribbon boards should be generating new revenues ad higher price points.  Your proposal wouldn't be moving anything it would be completely eliminating a revenue stream.

UT has had a led wall for a few years and you obviously haven't even noticed it, so it's fine, whining about stuff like this is :powerespect:
