ArchE cat, looks like braced frames in the N-S direction, moment frames in the E-W direction? Interesting.

yes. Looks like every column line in the E-W direction is a moment frame, this structure will need it. Its tall and the east and west faces of the building will catch lots of wind load and the building isn't very deep so you have to distribute all that lateral load. It also helps with cantilevering the club level seats off the face of the building. The north and south faces of the building are not very wide, so there's a lot less wind load. Braced frames much more practical this direction. I imagine the north and south towers each have braced frames as well as the middle section. The braced frames will likely be on the west side only since there's a lot of openings/glass on the stadium (east) side.

Also, note the presence of shear studs on top of the beams means they are using a composite beam/slab. Always the best choice.

this guy was welding something(s) here for the majority of the time I was there.

what is taking so long?  isn't steel basically just bigger, harder legos?

If you really want to know, I don't see any diagonal bracing (yet anyway), meaning they are probably building moment frames, which require a hilarious amount of welding.

full pen structural welding whilst handing off the side of a column for 8 hours isn't fun.

welding a new hitch on your trailer is fun.

I would be a bad builderman.

I like watching other people do it though.

those north side workers suck compared to the south side crew.  hello, north side guys, wake up, have you seen how far along your counterparts are?  omg, lol so slow it's like they're just crushing 30 packs of milwaukee's beast while the other dudes are well on their way to retirement.

It seems weird that you can stand on a piece of metal and shoot enough electricity into it to heat it up so hot that it melts, but you're not electrocuted.  Like I get the physics of it but it's weird nonetheless.

No the 2 crane boys have not had stadium lights installed on them, however, if you look at the top of the Dev you will notice that temp field lights have been installed on top of the elevator shaft.

Probably because the steel going up may block some of the old lights.

Tortoise crew vs Hare crew...North side will probably appear overnight.
