I think we just need to try a tiered pricing structure with the current seating to test feasibility. It doesn't have to be large scale. We just have to try it and see if it increases overall revenue and attendance.
Pan my heavens, we've had this for each of the three previous seasons. The original seating bowl, the metal bleachers on top, the upper deck, and the NEZ all have different pricing.
Some big12 games had all the tickets priced the same. Baylor, OU, and MU are the ones that come to mind. I can't remember if A&M was the same also.

The season tickets are all priced differently, the non cons have tiered pricing for individual game sales. I don't think that there should be tiered pricing for premium games because the tickets sold number has been high enough to justify not dropping the prices. Why would you devalue your product for just a few hundred unsold? It's quite clear that willing ticket holders haven't been priced out. And if you start tiering pricing you devalue the season tickets, and by doing that you run the risk of losing season ticket holders. Besides the last three years when there have been empties it has been the seats on the ends of the upper deck. They sold those as reduced price season tickets for this upcoming season and sold out.
A few things:
1) I haven't bought single game tickets in years, so that's my bad. I had no idea about that.
2) I don't buy the 'devalue season ticket' argument. Sections currently have tiered pricing when you factor in minimum donations for the seats. I can get into most sections in the stadium for less than what a season ticket holder paid by buying a single game ticket. You can certainly devalue the tickets if you mismanage it, but I have faith that a competent athletic department can manage it.
3) The fact that they sold those out proves my point in a way. Get them into the stadium, and there's a chance they'll pay for parking, buy concessions, etc. Get them through the door, and we may make an additional $20-30 bucks on them per game.
I mean, hey, I could be wrong, but I'm just saying that it's not impossible. Improbable, but not impossible.
