The turf mismatch is as we feared. They chose a different material (padded nylon turf..."similar to the original AstroTurf") for the EZOD because they feared the playing surface turf wouldn't be durable enough to withstand, and I quote, "TV production vehicles, Harley Day, Fort Riley vehicles, tractors, Gators, scissors lifts, etc."

The AD admins are also sticking to the "inside the stadium it's barely noticeable" line.

Our AD is so mentally slow. Don't they know that you can put ALL of these items on barges?
So much more flexibility with water.

Using a different material for the EZOD is perfectly understandable.   The color mis-match is just . . . strange, and its something straight out of the days that I thought were long since gone.    Why not go with a completely non green color, maybe black to match the sideline Death Slide area, or maybe purple, I don't know.   Just not another shade of green that makes it seem like they just went to a remnant sale and picked up a couple rolls.

They should do the sideline death slide areas as well, it would even things out, and frame the new playing surface.

But Jezuscrist folks, relax. KSU is amidst the single largest facility upgrade in the State's history. 100 mil in an entirely new west side and state of art BB practice facility.  Neither will be kstateo. Curry doesn't suck.

even more of a reason that this is some bullshit.  we are spending 100 million dollars and the thing that tv cameras are going to be focused on the entire game looks like dogshit.  i'm all for the other nice stuff but cameras aren't going to be on the west side or the inside of our practice facility.

Well the tv.cameras will be focused on the field.  Not the backs of the endzones (unless we're on defense).  I dunno. Doesn't look good. I guess I'm just not as torn up about it.

The pissed-off part is that it would've cost such a tiny fraction of everything else to not have the worst possible option. 

Other options:

Pay for an extra 20 yards of the stuff we bought.
Leave it how it was.
Get different stuff if necessary for some reason but pay to make sure it matches.
Get different stuff colored white/purple/black/silver/gray.
Get different stuff colored pink and say we're supporting fighting breast cancer.
Get different stuff and have the KSTATEO poster guy paint splatter the crap out of it.

Pretty accurate  analogy.  But if I see that car on the road I probably pass it, thinking what a doucher. Then I'd never think about it again.  Probably wouldn't fly into a fit of road rage and start looking for my tire iron. Not justifying the bumper sticker. Looks like crap. 

But bramlage looks like crap too. Doesn't stop me from buying my season tix. And it doesn't compel me to talk crap on frank Martin and john curry. To each their own.

Like I said, put down the EZOD turf around the whole perimeter of the field.   It frames the playing surface, and is perfectly understandable in serving as a "track" area for WTHarley day, and all the KStateO stuff they do.  

Plus I have always loved the Tuck attitude about this stuff, "what's the big deal"??   It goes back decades to the idea of a fresh coat of paint being a major facility upgrade.   Its the same folks who thought having rotting wood signs hanging between 2 limestone columns in front of our football complex was no big deal.  It's the same folks that thought replacing rotting old wood bleachers in the stadium was a waste of money, it's the same folks who think a limestone perimeter wall seperating the stands and the field is a waste of money.

This.  My analogy is that we're the retards who put the bumper sticker on our own fancy car and will be getting lol'd at and called douchers when we could've gone sans sticker and rolled with a chrome bumper or just one that matches the paint job of the rest of the car.
