Will the "cool" Pinstripe Bowl K-State be on the new field at BSFS?

Yes . . . it's cool.  Currie Prevails.

I'm curious to know why some people think H.I.T.G. stadium or H.I.T.G. arena is a burn? (Or a dig, if you will.  :driving: )

Is it because it somehow looks less stately on the drive up than having more visible cement beams? I don't think this is the burn that the Soviet Bloc History Awaits'rs think it is.

What's more stately than driving up to a castle!?  Then, walk inside and you're in the love boat.

The beauty of the HITG stadium is we can tear down the east side and have a brand new stadium with luxury suites, concessions, and three level tiered seating at a reasonable cost without missing a game.

My neighbor built a pretty basic inground pool for really cheap decades ago, and they are able to add beautiful landscaping and hardscape projects each year. While I'm now adding an above ground pool with a REALLY tall deck on one side of it! Gonna add some nice lattice, and light sticks that look like Kansas wheat!

I'm spending way more than they already have, so hoping to save up enough to finish the other side of the deck in a couple years.

Tremendous

Even KU Karl got a chuckle out of that one . . . then again, he's just passing time until Coach Seff's boys take the floor

Karla on the other hand is quietly hoping and  for the football ticket dumping to hit Karl's required strike price of $9 dollars each (she's not going to tell him about the surcharges)

I still can't believe teams ever played on the OG carpet on concrete Astroturf. Did any olds on this board ever play football on Astroturf fields? I can't imagine it felt good anytime you got tackled.

maybe that’s why it’s called “football” and not “feels good ball”?

I would love a natural grass field. We basically dominate all the AG School competitions so I don't know why we can't just spend 5 years creating an indestructible variety of grass that stays green in KS through November.

Marched on it 2 years as a member of The Pride.  Initially, thought it was cool, but the heat and pounding your legs took.  Can see why so many knees got blown out just playing touch games on it before pregame.  You thought Will Howard struggled with the turf monster...

Does anyone remember the incredible crown we had on the original field?  That thing could drain though.

I remember noticing the huge crown while watching 90's Katz highlight videos...Maybe that was why the option game was so efficient back then, basically running downfield.

i remember snyder ran a play against colorado I think where he had our qb (maybe matt miller) throwing a backwards pass across the field bouncing it off the crown.

i could be making this up.

I had the (mis)fortune of playing a no-pads football game on that turf in the summer of 1996 and it was absolutely awful. I would have rather played on a dirt field because the concrete under that half an inch layer of knee scraping "turf" was unforgiving. And, yes, the crown was insane. I'm not sure it's correct, but I have it stuck in my brain that if you measured the height difference from the top of the crown to the sideline that it was about a foot.

That turf and others like it from the 60s/70s/80s are no doubt responsible for all sorts of injuries that would have otherwise been much milder on natural grass (or even turf 2.0).
