I think it looks like super hot sex. Remember what our stadium looked like pre-WSC? We were excited about this:

Man, we were pathetic.

The cumulative amount (or lack thereof) of capital improvements under Urick/Weiser is staggering. Maybe $10-15 million total in a period of about 15 years? Then Currie comes along and raises that amount in about a week.

Only substantial thing I can recall since the early 90s was the east side

Urick (a castoff from Iowa State) facilitated the East Side football stadium expansion and the incredibly incompetent baseball reconstruction in which the the baseball team played 75 percent of its games on the road during the 1999 season because they tore down the existing stadium and couldn't get a new one built in time. They essentially built the new stadium on a pro-bono/ad-hoc basis because Urick was so incompetent that he couldn't raise $5 million to build a mediocre stadium from the outset (the second it was done a year later, it was already middle-of-the-pack in the Big 12). Then, Weiser followed and, I believe, the only improvement he made was the horribly short-sided "enhancement" of the north-side of the football stadium so that it didn't look like a mud pit anymore.

These two clowns illustrate the degree of damage that dumbass ADs can do to an athletic department (particularly if strung together in back-to-back tenures). And, on top of that, their combined compensation probably exceeds $3-4 million.

Two ADs who probably made a few million dollars combined during their tenures. And, collectively, they barely facilitated more than that in combined facility improvements. Ridiculous.

Oh, baby  :Wha: :Woohoo: :eye:  :emawkid: :billdance:

Honestly it kinda sucks though that we’re showing our hand to KU so early in this facilities arms race.

Until the crane has to be bolted and anchored to the ground with a crap ton of concrete and steel because they’re so huge they/it are not a Niles or a Frasier.

Those are the rules!!

Albeit we could up class that one to a Marty.

Don't get me wrong, I love crane pr0n as much as the next guy, but that crane seems a little excessive tbh.

When there isn't a season, will they just buy some more MGD's and Marlboro's and knock this thing out or will they keep the same timeline?

Max Urick only facilitated going out and borrowing the money for the East Side and it took him two seasons to get the East Club completed.  I had a friend who bought seats in the East Club and he and a bunch of other people started raising hell.

Weiser worried about storage space.

Meh, nearly every college stadium that's had anything substantial done looks piecemeal.   Only way to avoid that is do nothing, or whole new stadium.

i don't think it looks piecemeal except for the north end, and even that doesn't look all that bad.  on the whole i think it's pretty sharp.

Yeah, agreed the NEZ looks the most "out of place" of the new stuff but it's fairly minor and they did as good a job they could to make it be as natural as possible.

Hard to build up the NEZ when the SEZ is dug into the ground the way it is. Plus I would hate it if we blocked the view of the greatest setting in all of college football more than we already have you know?
